Adjustable Dumbbells?

Anyone use adjustable dumbbells? I'm looking for a set of dumbbells, figure I'll want weights from 15# to 40#, trying to reduce clutter so the idea of a pair of dumbbells that are adjustable to all the desired weights is appealing. However, the prices for these seem nutty to me ($500 for a pair? Really?) so they'd have to be really good to be worth it. I see Bowflex, PowerBlock, and Eliteblock brands out there.

they kick butt! costco used to sell a set for $300. i bet they bring it back soon.

dumbells, and an adjustable bench..and you can do it all.

If you are going to spend that kind of money on dumb bells get the power blocks. If you outgrow them you can upgrade the weight plates to increase weight. Also there is another company making the bowflex ones under a different and a cheaper price

Check Craigslist. I found a set of the super high-end Bowflex brand dumbells for $100.00 and they had never been used! Some guy bought them, stuck them in the garage and poof, there they sat. His loss, my gain! They do make workouts like P90-X much easier.

I have metal ones, no brand, they do the job just fine.
But I don't really use them that much, only when I can't work out in the gym for some reason.

My first thought too. The problem is, nobody in PARF is even the slightest bit adjustable

The bowflex ones are pretty slick. The only downside I can think of is that the grips have an agressive texture, and it's a bit hard on your hands without gloves.
