They are seriously good cars.... I'd just hate to be taking the depreciation bath on one...

I've seen these all over the map in price. With such low mileage, what'd you get it for?

Wow, I underestimated this one. <3 months? A new record? Why?

Love the rat-rod color combination. If that were my car, I would probably never wash it.

They are a lot of car for the money (and how much you never said), but I would give these cars a good 20 years before comparing toughness with the older air cooled cars. It might not be the toughness of the olders cars as much as there was just a lot less to go wrong with them. For now, drive the hell out of if in the 6 months you'll own it.

I think that's about average.

As to why:

1. It's fun to drive a bunch of different, very interesting cars.
2. The money I make goes towards my student loans.
3. I love to tinker, so getting these cars 100% up to date on maintenance feeds my addiction.

I can't disagree, but I would make that argument about any newer car. The more advanced they get, the more stuff to go wrong. With that said, right now the 996 is a very reliable Porsche.

Might have asked this before but re #2 - don't you have to pay sales tax and possibly licence/dmv tags on second hand purchases? Or are you a registered dealer? Those fee's would kill any possible gain unless you got the car for $5-6K under what you're asking for it now.

No, I'm not a dealer. Yes, I pay sales tax and registration. Yes, I have to find pretty good deals in order to make any money. No, I'm not a moron that can't do simple math.

The reason I often go months between cars is the requirement to find a pretty smoking deal in order to make money. I found this 911 significantly under trade-in value. Sometimes people just don't know what their cars are worth.

Matt, do you get a tax credit when you trade a car in Kansas? If you bought a $10K car and traded in a $6K car, do you pay tax only on the $4K difference?

Yes, we do. But I highly prefer buying cars from individuals and don't ever trade anything in, so I don't benefit.
