Funny! What do you do when your son catches his own 'house elf'!!!
So today Mike is talking to a friend of ours...who tells him an hilarious (true) story...
Girlfriend works with a lady who has an autistic son. Son absolutely loves Harry Potter....and must have a fascination with the house elves like Dobby. Anyway the Mum gets a very excited phone call at work from her son...he's exclaiming over and over "mum I got one, I got one!!!". He is so excited he can't tell her what he's got one of...so she goes home to find out. She gets home to find her son covered in scratches and bruises, but he is absolutely beside himself with excitement...so much so that all he can keep saying is that he's got one...she at this stage is VERY concerned of course. Finally he leads his mum to the garage....and there he has captured a 'small person' (dwarf/little person)...who had fought like hell against his 'capture'. Apparently the son saw this little person walking down the street, mistook him for a 'house elf' and promptly wrestled him into the garage... I believe Mum was extremely apologetic and released said 'house elf' immediately. I don't believe the 'little person' is going to take matters further...thank goodness. Hopefully once Mum explained he saw the humourous side of it all...and I guess Mum has to explain to her son that he can't really have his own house elf... I think it's a gorgeous story...funny and innocent...so don't flame me about making fun of challenged kids or height challenged adults....because that's not what this story is about. Poor 'little person' though...he must have been positively terrified! |

That sounds like a bit from a sit-com. It is funny after the fact. I bet the little person was terrified.

yes Glen, definitely funny after the fact...I can't imagine what would have been going through the mum's mind...let alone the poor guy destined to be a house elf!
Bless these kids for their amazing imagination though.... |

There really needs to be a study of story telling and how legends are passed down in the digital age. I think it's fascinating how the original tale is modified to include more recent and specific elements.

Yes we have access to snopes and no this isn't a hoax (although it is weird enough to be; granted) and yes I've seen the snopes stuff (wonder if the kid had too and got the idea of his house elf?)
