Well, from what I read, they moved from a third floor apartment, across several miles of dead flat Houston, then up to a third floor apartment.

Therefore, the total work done is zero.

Did ya hear that Tom?? ZERO total work, and you're making thread complaining! Come on! :D

For most of our lives, we believe that the more stuff we have the happier we will be. In reality, the inverse is true. Happiness and storage are inversely proportional. I can't say I have ever been happier than when all my stuff fit on my motorcycle.

I have moved, and assisted in moves, enough to understand them. First, everybody has about four times as much stuff as they should. We've been over that. Second, packing should be done by someone who doesn't know or care anything about your stuff. Kitchen stuff is placed in "kitchen" boxes. No sorting. No thinking. If you have a professional moving company move you, and you left an ash tray on the living room coffee table when you left.........that ash tray, with those cigarette butts, will be on that same coffee table in your new place.

This is only potential energy and presumes that the height of the third floors are equivalent.SmileWavy (Don't forget losses in nonideal machines either)
