What is up with the 918?
the 'green' Porsche which is actually silver.
Drive On: Cars, Trucks, and Daily Life - USATODAY.com -number-to-greenlight-918-spyder-hybrid/1 I suppose they should build the 1000 and will sell them easily after wards... They have 900 orders already??? what's the big deal? so they have 100 to distribute to dealerships? Strange Porsche cannot take the risk of having 100 hybrid cars sit on the lots around the world? Seems like good advertising to have a hybrid sports car in the line up.

Those "orders" are most like dealers. Porsche contacts dealers and PCNA and asks who wants one. If the dealer thinks they can make the sell, they order one and it hits the showroom.

Porsche says that if 1,000 potential buyers show serious interest in the 918, it will approve the production of the hybrid supercar.

Since this is just speculation from some website, I will try to back it up from a more reputable source (me!
![]() Porsche sent out 'feelers' to all of its dealer body/customer base in the US. They sent out mailers to all previous GT/GT2/ and multi-Porsche owners to feel out interest in this car. I assume that is where the article is basing its information from- these "feeler" surveys that went out last month. *fingers crossed* I want to drive one! And if they make it.. *grin* I will! |

I like it but not for the price. Make mine a regular gas version with only 350 or 400hp. Drop all the extra electronics and junk and get the weight down to around 2400-2500 pounds and sell it as a special bodied Cayman. Hmmm... it's starting to sound a little like the early 356 speedsters now isn't it?
