Let's see, so many schit boxes over the years...

One that really sticks out was an '80s Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It got maybe 5 or 6 mpg if it was running perfectly and seemed like it was engineered, designed and built by people with severe head injuries who medicated the problem with PCP. Went through the snow well but so what, so does any (good) 4x4. It almost seemed like you'd need a trailer w/ a huge auxiliary fuel tank on it to go the places shown in the magazine ads for the thing.

Mine: 1995 Chevy Blazer. It was in the shop every other month for something mechanical. My one and only 4X4.

I haven't had any vehicles that i wouldn't own again but the worst two i can think of is my 86 Toyota pickup. It ran forever and the drive line was bulletproof..........the frame not so much. That frame disintegrated from underneath the truck quicker than i could repair it. The second was a automatic 98 jeep Cherokee. That thing had so many issues. the rear end howled louder than the stereo. the transmission's shifting was lazy, I had a 69 fj40 with better steering and that drove straighter.

My 1986 Diesel Golf (purchased new) at the end of 4-1/2 years was falling apart. Of course it had over 80,000 miles on it, so it comes in a close second to the 19-1/2 year old Tracker.

By years and miles the Tracker was by far the better of the two. However the carbon monoxide gave me a buzz like the devil.

So you loved it until it almost killed you?

I know the feeling.

1980 911SC.

Bought from a pelican. That car broke my heart in so many ways. Lost a lot of faith in the honesty of people, discovered how to find rust and accident damage. Was a valuable lesson, but a stinky one.

Severely underpowered. Interior trim pieces falling off all the time. Went through five window regulators. Switches popping out of the console. Constant tailight issues. Rain leaks.

Huh.... my '92 E36 325i with about 310k on the clock is still going strong with all of it's interior bits still attached and AFAIK, it's original power window components. AC still works as do the tail/brake lights although I often get an erroneous fault warning that the they are not working at times.... I guess I just am used to the warning popping up occasionaly.

It has truly been the best car I have ever owned and now has the most miles of any vehicle I have ever owned (and I have owned a bunch).

86 ford ranger. Tow truck magnet.
It lasted for about 55,000 miles before it wasn't worth fixing (again).

1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spyder, head gaskets galore, leaks everywhere,
but then I was 17 and had to work on it myself
I had a 90 Super Coupe. I only drove it in the summer. It was a great car.Just routine maintenance. There was a recall for the rotors that Ford replaced no charge.
I sold it for my 911.

1999 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4. Bought new and drove like a champ until I hit 35k miles. Blew a head gasket and was in the shop for 45 days in 6 months after that with same/similar problems. They never did figure it out. Threatened Didge under the Magnusson-Fergusson Act (?) to get out of the lease and pay my lawyer.

Check engine light came on again when I took it back to the dealer to turn it in. It was there problem at that point...

1992 Ford Explorer. I was in High School. It was a tank during the latter half of my ownership, but that's because I had the transmission swapped with a rebuilt one from a local shop after the dealer had replaced the tranny under warranty TWICE and it was still failing. Got a totally new tranny with a lower gear set, thing was a rocket after that.

Interior was plastic trash. I had these big subs in the back of it, they rattled most of the trim loose. It started rusting before it was 4 years old.

Sure could haul a lot of people though.

My eldest son brought home a '66 vw bug.

You do not have to be poor to own a bug.

It will keep you that way.
