I think red light cameras run on sensor wires, not radar. For those you need a GPS that will let you download all the intersections from a website and then alert you. You can also do this for the speed cameras on the roads, which don't use radar either. But I find those to be easily defeatable since they have two signs before each one warning you. I never run red lights. But I have been stuck in the middle, trying to make a left turn when oncoming idiots turn without signaling, making me miss my chance and then getting caught with the camera. But they get the side of my car and can't see the plates, so I'm fine with it.

I know sometimes they power 'em down.
No way it should be missing them. It's either X (nobody still uses), K (almost nobody still uses), Ka (which is almost always real with the exception of a few door opener manufacturers) or laser. I'm not aware of any other band unless they're using European Ku - and the V1 can be enabled to pick that up also.

Check your manual...maybe you inadvertently told your V-1 to ignore signals from X band...does it display an A for "all" after turning it on?

Big L for 6 years! The problem isn't that it doesn't pick (some of) those signs up, it's that it USED TO. What changed???

Escort 8500 X50. For laser protection, nothing compares to the Blinder X-treme.

Mine doesn't pick up the speed fleshing signs either. It's in "L" which IIRC pretty much ignores the x band. I'm almost certain those signs use a very low power x band.
I've been meaning to test the other settings to see if I can pick up the sign down the road from my house. The detector still picks up a strong x band now and then. Quote:

Maybe you should send it in for the latest upgrades...give V-1 a ring first, they'll give a price quote for the service. When calling, mention the X band weakness...
Friend who lives in VA sez that since detectors are illegal there, the cops tend to use the cheaper and older radar units...

Hmmm...I'd say give V-1 a call....they have great customer service...
