15 years later... Is the Information Superhiway all it was cracked up to be?
Remember all the hype in the mid 90's about the Information Super Highway?
For you, is it all it was cracked up to be? Has the Interweb improved your life? How?

Single best thing that has ever happened. I have the ability to contact almost anyone in the world instantly and have access to the sum of the world's knowledge at my fingertips. In addition, I can access nearly every song, movie, book, etc ever made in seconds.

Plateaued? That's like saying everything has already been invented.

I'm thankful for Internet porn. I no longer have to hang out in those dirty, sticky booths at the local adult store.

It's made life loads easier in terms of learning how to do things (see: here, Clark's Garage, John Bridge forums, ...) and find out who sells the materials I need for projects. If I want the weather I can go to NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and pull up the forecast without waiting for The Weather Channel to say what it'll be. FB and digital cameras have made it loads easier to keep up with people I grew up with, and being able to post a picture of a damaged part or a short video of some other problem with the car or house makes diagnosing these things a lot simpler.
On the downside, I think I and nearly everyone else are a lot less patient than before.

^^^^ What Scoober said.
Plus, remember all those moments when you'd wanna smack your head against a wall because you couldn't remember the name of some dumb movie, but you vaguely remember that a certain actor/actress was in it and when you saw it? Not a problem any more. The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) That's pretty cool, IMO. Along with a million other things. I think it has lived up to the hype. Chat with a bud on the other side of the world in real time? Also cool.
