Suicide....it's not just for Breakfast anymore.
Everyone has thought of it at one time or another. A neighbor did it last year, she shot herself in the heart. Until the local cops found the note they hooked up the hubbie.
This afternoon my Uncle did himself in. He was a troubled soul. Drop dead good looking guy, but just a bit "off". He was in a band, took a lot of then legal drugs, was the drummer in the back up band for Elvis in "Double Trouble". Tried to do it with a vintage 67 VW into a bridge abuttment, lost an eye, screwed up his face. He accepted my offer of friendship this AM on Facebook. Somehow he got ahold of a shotgun and did the deed sometime this afternoon. His daughters found him. He was 65. We took all his weapons away, we took away his DL. We called him every day, he was scheduled for plastic surgery today. We thought we did what was needed..... Oh well, as I said, we all think of it. Even I have. Seeing the fallout from the reactions of his children, my Momz, his brother, I won't again. RIP, Don Vader.

I can honestly say i have never once seriously considered suicide in anything more than a melodramatic half a heart beat moment.
Sorry for your loss Mike. |

Sorry to hear. There are some truly troubled people who can seemingly only find peace that way. Hopefully your family can move
past it. |

Had a first cousin and a sister-in-law that felt it was the thing to do. Plus had a level 3 sex offender borrow one of my shotguns for that purpose. There's no understanding what is going through their mind. Sorry you had the experience.

Sorry for your loss, Mike.
I knew a guy with similar stats(goodlooking, smart, talented, etc.) He had a good family and LOTS of friends but noone saw it coming. He was just 26.......... and had married my little sister just a year before that day. ![]() Before that, I had given it a thought when I went through some rough times but chickened out. Good thing I did as it would have devastated my parents. Hang in there and be there for his family as best as you can.

This is one part of my life I will not miss one BIT. As an investigator for the USAF, I was involved in more suicide investigations than I care to remember. Suicide in the military is very common and one year in MT we had 6. Holy crap that's an aweful lot of people taking their own life. Each was horrible. I had to contact families, sometimes within hours of their initial notification, and it ripped my heart out each time.
Some of them had the usual factors and circumstances... some of them were completely unexplainable and if it weren't for the GSR and stippling on the hands we would have suspected foul play. I was the agent assigned to a suicide case of a dependent spouse (14 yr old girl) at a NATO base in Holland a couple years back. I drove up to do the interview of the parents and there on their couch they told me that this was their second girl to kill herself. Her older sister, 16 I think, had taken her own life two years prior. That was the only time in my 6 yrs as an Agent that I asked to be excused during an interview to pull myself together. I left the AF with an absolute hatred for two things: suicide and child porn. Sorry for your loss, Mike.

My favorite uncle did this two years ago. I feel for you. He was signicant in my life. It is a senseless and deeply unsatisfying end.
I would recommend talking this out with someone who is a good listener. It is the only thing that I find helps. Larry |

Mike, I am so very sorry.
I know that you - of all the regulars - really didn't need yet another setback. Stay strong, buddy.

I'll survive.....I'm just seeing how incidents like this spread out anong the relatives. He wasn't even my favorite uncle. I kind of even tried to avoid him. The world sucks, hence there is no gravity.
Crap like this just puts a dent in your life just when ya feel things are getting better.
