Using a Ford Escape Hybrid for 1.5 weeks
I am using a brand new Ford Escape Hybrid and had a chance to put on about 60 miles so far. I have driven the Gen II Prius and Gen III Prius and I think the Escape's hybrid system is more seamless in operation than the Prius. There is no shudder when the gas engine turns on and off unlike the Prius. Fuel mileage is about 34 mpg in the city and about 30 on the highway. Acceleration is actually brisk and comparable to my Mother-In-Law's Escape V6.
I will have the Escape Hybrid for well over a week and will put on mega miles. I am interested to see how the car does during that time. If the Fusion Hybrid drives similar to the Escape then it should be a much more refined vehicle than the Prius. I might have to go test drive one. Speedy ![]()

Wow, how'd you land that good deal? Anyway, awaiting your longer term impressions...

entertaining the idea

I am more of a fan of the hybrids that look like regular cars as the Fusion does. The Prius and Insight never worked for me. They looked like they were trying to hard to look ultra modern.
Keep us updated.
