How to deal with Somali pirates

This is how you deal with these scum-sucking filth:

Captured pirates 'likely dead'

Moscow - A group of Somali pirates captured by the Russian navy in the Gulf of Aden and then released are likely dead after failing to reach the shore, a top Russian defence source said on Tuesday.

The 10 pirates were captured last week after seizing a Russian oil tanker but were then unexpectedly released, with Russian officials saying there was insufficient legal basis to keep them in detention.

"According to the latest information, the pirates who seized the 'Moscow University' oil tanker failed to reach the shore. Evidently, they have all died," the source was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.

The Interfax news agency said after their release the Russian navy put the pirates in a boat some 300 nautical miles offshore, removing all weaponry and navigational equipment from the vessel.

I'm sorry, but I have no time for these modern-day pirates. They got what they needed. Seems like they fk'ed with the wrong people this time.

But the decrease in the pirate population is sure to accelerate global warming!

I don't have a lot of sympathy for Pirates either but this seems rather brutal.

I guess after what the Russians have been through with terrorism in their own country this sort of behaviour is to be expected.
That doesn't mean it was the right thing to do.

It's a calculated risk that anyone who decides to become a pirate has to take. That something may go wrong because you pick the wrong people to steal from, and you may not come back.

I suspect the hijackers will learn to leave the Russian and American ships alone. It's not like they boarded a ship to bring the crew cookies. Just kill the pirates on the spot and dump the bodies for shark food.

It sounds like the Russians dumped the pirates in boats without the provisions/fuel to get to shore.

I suspect this was on purpose and I suspect they will do it again. After all, they need a few pirates to survive to tell their horrible stories...

Merchant ships. When minutes count, the Navy is hours away.

Don't rag on the Navy, red. Ships only move at a pace similar to driving in suburban neighborhoods. And they have to cover a lot of territory.

Excuse me? These are pirates, they hijack ships and if needed kill people.

They understand two things, money and force. We have already paid them far too much money in ransom, so its time to show them what real force is.

Sorry but this is exactly what they need.

It was meant as a similar line to the why you should have personal firearms. "When seconds count, the police are minutes away".

I have no issue with the Navy, or the Police for that matter. But they can't be everywhere at once, so you must be able to defend yourself. These pirates count on the merchants not being armed, and that the insurance companies will pay.

Did you know that most pirates that get caught red-handed are released?
International law dictates that the country of the ship that was attacked must decide to press charges, and must take custody of the pirates, and must prosecute them according to international law which has all kinds of loop holes, its really weak andhard to convict. then if they actually can convist them the country has to pay to imprison them and it makes them a target for hostage exchange. They don't want the hassle so they let the pirates go.

There was a documentary on TV the other day about a navy ship patrolling a high pirate area, I believe it was a Belgian navy ship IIRC.

They caught some pirates in the act but the country of the ship that was attacked refused to press charges. The pirates were forced to throw their AK-47s overboard but were set free.

AND GET THIS: The pirates didn't have enough gas or food or water to get back to shore and their motor wouldn't start. The Belgian navy vessel gave them gas, gave them food and water, and FIXED THEIR MOTOR!
International law forbids leaving anyone stranded in the open ocean, even if they are murdering POS. (Russia will probably have to pay the poor grieving widows of the pirates all kinds of money because they didn't help them get home).

More often than not, pirates get set free and get provisions so they can go get more weapons and do it all again.
I no longer feel bad for the merchant ships. I no longer feel bad that pirates capture a ship. they are asking for it with the BS bleeding heart liberal wimpy victim mentality.

If they want to get tough I'll care again. if they want to keep being wimps, they deserve the spanking they get.

I would have slashed them up real good and then tossed them over for shark bait. Why aren't all pirates immediately executed?

They had thier choice between keelhauling or set free with no food, gas, etc. At least they had a chance with the boat...

Russians probably made sure the boat was completely full of holes- er, I mean, life vests- before it left port.

can someone explain to me how a small boat of pirates can get onto a cargo ship? seems to me, if they pull up along side the big ship to toss up grappling hooks or whatever...couldnt you just go all wile coyote on the effers and drop an anvil on them

i like to think the russians killed the fools outright. dying slow at sea is my nightmare. brutal.

The pirates spray the deck with automatic weapons fire to keep the crew down while they grapple and board.

If the countries are ignoring the pirates and not prosecuting them and have decided that it's easier just to pay off the pirates in ransom instead of prosecuting them, they get no symapthy from me and justifiably so.

BTW if you are one of those bleeding heart wimps and got your little feelings hurt, tough do-do.
