HK P9S .45 911 anti theft dee-vice!
WOW! is all i can say. yesterday after werk p/u this monster up from my local FFL after the mandatory federal 10 day wait period. ripped home grabbed range bag/bullets(winchester/federal/remington) and off to the dez my son and i went befo sundown.
parked pick 'em up, dropped tail gate on lonely forlorn trail in the foothills with nice safe backdrop................AND UNLOADED! screw the range wasnt interested in paper accuracy. just functionality. weapon came from grand island nebraska.........well that may explain its lubricant state of affairs. looked like the clown had lubed it with baby butt petroleum jelly. this damn thing was caked in the crap. wiped down externals. had scrounged across the u.s. (6) other mags at great time and expense. (4) were brand new never fired. only (1) came with gun. loaded with federal 230 gr JHP. blammo (7) times perfect feed. bore snaked barrel. loaded next with remington 230 FMJ and blammo (7) times. loaded with winchester and had some feed problems. nothing more than pushing slide forward. isolated that mag from rest. 9 mags of (7) rds, holds (8). isolated mag may have TOO MUCH BABY BUTT PETROLEUM JELLY IN IT WTF????? all the other mags feed perfect. bore snaked it a few times and home we went. got on puter and downloaded manual and stripped it. just VIZUALIZE smearing the hell outta every damn part with petroleum jelly. what an idiot. WTF? do they have salt air snow ice storms in grand island nebraska???? NUKLAR WINTERS???????? anyway wiped it all down and slide felt much better everything werked better. anyway its being sent off to HKUSA for new buffer and new safety update as per hkpro.com threads. anything that blinks at them will be replaced. gonna send all the mags(cleaned) and have them test fire. hkusa customer service now is bar none el perfecto from what i have read. they take yer shooter, strip it , check/test everything within spec. and THEN SHOOT IT WITH VARIOUS AMMO TO DETERMINE BEST GROUPS AND SEND YOU THE TARGETS! will be sending all mags to determine if the one problem child has feed lip problemos or a spring ist kaput. oh by the way i forgot to mention accuracy...................OMG this is the FINEST MOST ACCURATE .45 i have EVER SHOT! negligible recoil, narrow hand grip, fits my hand like a 36DD BOOBEN! never shot a finer pistol EVER! dead nuts accurate at 50yds. i mean dancing cans once ya get correct sight picture! the BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT ON A HANDGUN! "A GERMAN GUN TO PROTECT A GERMAN IN A GERMAN CAR!" anyjuan else own juan in 9mm or .45??????? |

p.s. only 8000 made during its production run in .45.
about 20,000 made during its 10 year production run in 9mm. can you say "RARE?" prices are skyrocketing on these. this was the first POLYMER PISTOL EVER! not a glock. despite glocks b.s. advertising. these P9S from hk were light years in front of all other mfg's when introduced in 1968. production ran until 1978. same delayed roller system just minaturized as a hk -91/ hk-93/ hk-94. therefore minimal recoil. shoots circles around my other semi auto pistols. why? its a fixed barrel. |

oh and anutta point of reference.................mossad ayoob and i quote stated " the finest, most accurate .45 and 9mm i have ever shot."
ayoob used his P9S 9mm for a number of years shooting the BIANCHI CUP competition shooting trials. both 9mm and .45 still used by u.s. navy seal teams east and west coasts, suppressed and unsurppressed. for anyjuan unfamilar with mossad ayoob....................well ya need to know about him if yer ever gonna be a serious "shootist" puedner!!!! cant say enough about this gun. man its XMAS around here! |

I always wondered why they quite making those. I'm not a big autoloader fan (owning only one - a mil spec Springfield 1911A1), but this one would be on my short list. Nice find.

Ayoob, in addition to walking the walk, has written a number of books as well.

hk moved on with other projects. not withstanding the roller system was machine tool intensive plus military contracts were looking at other ideas for the "uber" semi-auto pistol. hk as well as others (knight armament) perfected suppressor technology on these and it is quite easily done. actually its simple childs play. elite teams like GSG-9 and u.s. navy seal teams recognized this and its inherent "MORON AND IDIOT PROOF" design. take down is simple. hold slide, push button in trigger housing , slide lifts off to reveal mini delay roller blowback system. push barrel forward against spring and out comes barrel. push down on roller system and out it comes. BRAIN DEAD simple maint. there. butt as you go towards some of the other little gizmos(buffer/buffer plate) you need a little bit of IQ to replace correctly. this was/is/ and always will be an armorers job. dont know yet how many rounds buffer will handle...........YET! but i will in about a week. buffer is UBER CRITICAL ON THE .45's. buffer take a DOO DOO on you and you can quite possibly break a $675 dollar usd slide. so knowing its uber critical we will have hk replace and anything else they find. i am uber ANAL about the condition of my firearms. be it for hunting/plinking/self defense. this am cleaned ALL (7) magazines. total disassembly, total clean/light lube. my problem child mag from yesterday was a simple fix. it was the juan that came with gun. it was uber slathered with freaking petroleum jelly WTF?????? cant figure this juan out????? all i had to do was clean everything and spread upper lips apart a skosh and stainless follower goes uppy/downey el perfecto. P9S in 9mm were and maybe you can still find them around 500-700 bucks usd. but these west german police trade-ins are being gobbled up FAST! and I MEAN FAST! seems to be a sudden resurgence in interest in these and it aint looking pretty as far as prices. the uber uber uber rare juans are the TARGET MODELS. go to hkpro.com go to hk world, click on P9S and jerk yerself silly at these uber cool target models. adj trigger, adj sites, combat grips, wood racey uber cool target grips, in *****en presentation case. higher front site, higher rear adj. sight than combat models have. be ready to FAINT at their cost. be it .45 or 9mm. very few .45 target models(let alone combat model) produced hence the spendy uber scarey price tag. calling hk usa in the next hour and get the 411 drill on RGA #, shipping, insurance, blah blah. gonna send my fixed barrel HK VP70Z 9mm in also for a LOOKY/SEE and see if it needs anything.............at all. carry guns get uber sweat/time/money/foo-foo/love/honor/respect/and a nice warm home always(ie. under my pillow). happiness ..............is a warm german gun, in a warm german car!!!!!! |

well i did notice a bunch of it bleeding along both side rails and on the mag supplied with it. wiped it down befo shooting.
butt.........as we continued amuzing the hell outta ourselves with our incredible shots dead on target at 50yds..............the clear ooooozzzzze kept bleeding out of it. and kept wiping it each mag we put in. rapid fire or slow we noticed this. the mag supplied was slimmed with the crap so i cleaned mag well , as well as mag itself. and feeding ramp. after tearing into last night with the hk P9S manual on PDF via the puter, and seeing what i was up against, tearing it down WAS THE BEST THING. man the slide is SMOOTH AS BUTTER........................now. using this stuff now called "M-LUBE". bio degradible, non toxic, does not attract dust dirt etc. developed for iwaq and afghan. turned onto this stuff by my local(cave creek,az) hk guru of all thing hk rifle and subguns, RDTS.com(reddogtargetsupply). he uses "M-LUBE" on all his box fed/belt fed/clip fed hk's he builds as a class III FFL mfg. bought some at snobssdale gun club here and lubed all hunting guns we took for elk. hk 9mm compact and marlin lever 45/70 for kid and my springfield micro-compact .45 and my hk-91 .308. tested the hell outta the stuff with snow/rain/dust/dirt/ strapped on us or quad for 8 days in freezing ass weather and i can attest to the fact that my buddies (2) guns were filthy and ours HAD NO DUST/DIRT/MUD/ADHESION whatso ever anywhere on weapon. great stuff and im a believer now. |

"the mandatory federal 10 day wait period"
Must be a state or local ordinance, or I've been doing it wrong for years. Jim

10 day waiting period is for interstate sales of ANY firearm/dee-structive device/transfer etc.
ie. i bought gun from guy in nebraska, im in az.. he MUST BY LAW(federal) send to a local FFL that i specify. it sits there from day it arrives aND COUNT OFF 10 DAYS INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND THEN YOU MAY POSSESS. this aint a joke, it is real, and it can bite you hard. interstate commerce of firearms pays no heed to individual states CCW laws. meaning in az. me with my CCW can buy as MANY guns as i want in a day cash and carry. no waiting period as per brady law that applies to NON-CCW peoples. buttt foir interstate sales, there is a 10 day MANDATORY WAITING PERIOD while my local FFL sends serial number into local cop shop and they run numbers on big brother computer for any wants or warrants for stolen weapons, or murder weapons for that matter. NEVER EVER EVER EVER SEND A HANDGUN united states postal service unless you are an FFL. HUGE HUGE GINORMOUS BAD THANG TO DO! they will WHACK YER PEE PEE HARD! ONLY SEND HANDGUNS VIA FED EX OR UPS. shotguns/rifles OK via USPS(mailman) |

is the P96 pistol the one with the tab that you can lock into position to limit trigger travel? if so, my bro has one in 9mm. proabably the most accurate pistol in our safe. the lucky bastard got one for a grad present in high school from my stepdad. his timing was perfect because he was trying to marry my mom at the time, and was really sucking up to us. i didnt get anything...no wait, a remington 1100, with a ridiculous duck barrel choked down.

Chuck, I would never put a gun in the hands of the mailman, that's asking for trouble!

the P9S i have does not have an adj. trigger. the target models in 9mm and 45 ARE adjustable. but not from outside veapon. you must remove slide and adj trigger via screw next to cocking hammer rearward of mag well.
i knew i would get a "going postal" joke. i guess the usps kind of has an IMAGE PROBLEMO due to workloads imposed and other issues that ONLY the MAILMAN KNOWS ABOUT! it weird how "going postal" has become a part of the american language and culture. but looking back the mailman/woman doesnt get a star next to name FOR PLAYING/WERKING WELL WITH OTHERS AWARD! kind of dismal track record that has tarnished them big time. |

Actually, the ten day wait even applies for in-state sales if it is a used gun being purchased from a third party dealer. No matter how long the dealer has the gun in his possession (consignment, trade in, pawned, whatever) the 10 days starts when he sells it. Not when he first recieves it. The 10 days is to allow for local authorities to run a serial number check on the gun to determine if it is stolen.
Pretty damn transparent, really. If the intent was really to catch the crook that stole it, one would think the check would be run upon the dealer's receipt of the gun. Used guns can sit on dealers' shelves or in their racks for months before being sold and therefore inititating the serial number check. The trail would be pretty darn cold by then. No, this is no more than a defacto waiting period, using the serial number check as an excuse. I run into this crap all the time when perusing the local used gun establishments. I can walk out with any brand new gun on the same day.

10 days? Try 3 "federal working days" here in Florida... no wait on long guns... no wait if you have CCW... no wait if you are trading in a different hand gun...
