				Mercury nears the end

I saw a pretty nice Marauder (last generation) in St. Louis this past weekend. After reading about Ford's plan to scrap Mercury this year, I thought it's too bad the brand lost its niche in the Ford range. If only Ford could have kept Mercurys like the S-55s, Marauders, and some Cougars alive and scrapped the boring re-badged "Mercury" Milans and Montegos of late. At least the Mercurys of old had enough character to differentiate them from the Fords. Even the Lincolns now aren't that different from their cheaper cousins, although the MKS is pretty nice. Ah well, I will remember the best Mercury had to offer

Eliminating Mercury is a smart move for Ford. Unfortunately, that probably means the end of Jill Wagner as their spokeswoman.
