Wow, I know hitting a deer in a car is a big thump, that looks BAD.

Any idea what track this was? It looks like the deer was already down on the road when he hit it. (Like someone else had already hit it).

Summit Point (main track) has woods in the infield and woods surrounding the track. No fencing to keep the critters out. It gets real interesting there from time to time.

At a DE event I attended, my friend in a Boxster pegged a deer in that same section of track -- aka "The Chute". Fortunately, the deer bounced up off his hood and literally flew over his car.
I can't imagine hitting a deer with a bike - glad the hear the rider's ok. -Z-man.

Westwood BC Canada, our old track, before the gov't wouldn't re-new the lease, the back straight crested at Deers Leap, think a couple of guys died over the years, they had the back straight pretty well lined with about a 20' high fence to stop this, it was a georgeous track and a lot of big names raced there over the years

At 1 minute in the move the guy with camera is being overtaken like he was standing still... [/QUOTE]If you listen again, you'll hear that he misses a gear - that's all that is required.

That's where deer like to cross pavement...with brush on both sides, close to the road. Be aware of this when driving in deer or elk areas.

Wow, that reminds me of my first DE there at SP when a deer jumped over my hood towards the end of the front straight. Glad to hear the rider made it.
BTW, nice overhead pic Jim ... brings back a lot of great memories from back in the day with the original crew

Hey Doug E! Lu and I say hi to you and your family!
![]() Yeah, you were lucky. Tony K. split one in two with his front tow hook on his 944 Cup car. Front straight...no time to react. Ack!

The only kart fatality I know of was a deer. Unfortunately on a kart, the deer's midsection is helmet high.
I saw one cross the track at Texas World in the 930 with another Pelican as my instructor. We both looked at each other like, "did that really just happen!" It was so small small it looked like a little dog.

That deer hit was just past where I ran my 993 into the wall on that same track. Gotta watch out for the critters there.
