what about becoming a veterinarian, you would get to be outside on the days you are arm deep in a cow or horse

Sounds like you need to sell drugs out of a small Porsche repair and customization shop.

No problem man. Not everyone gets a thrill out of getting chased down the street in reverse by 20 bat wielding Puerto Ricans.

Just out of curiosity, Sid, why did you decide on Pharmacy School in the first place?

you might try to go into engineering for a bio-pharma firm

add some biol. & micro-biol. classes b/c that is what you'd most likely be designing

I am a machine design engineer. Being very mechanically minded my whole young life, I thought I would enjoy designing/building/troubleshooting automated machinery. Well after a few years of it, it got real old real quick. By the time I realized how much I hated it, I had a family to support and 20 years after starting this job, I am still at it making my barely "adequate" wage with health insurance. I know I should do something with my mechanical skills I have devoloped/fine tuned over the years, but I guess with age comes a bit of laziness and/or fear of rocking the boat.

All that said..... of all the jobs I had during my early years, I would have to say my favorite was driving a semi truck for a buddies dad when I was in college. It consisted of picking up a load then driving 3 hrs each way on the Ohio turnpike.... Plenty of time to daydream/plan all my hobbies while getting paid. At least once a week for the past several years I find myself thinking back to those worry free "gear jamming" days.

I tried to help with the funk, didn't explain very clearly...

It's all about goal. Setting goals and keeping them in sight really helps get through the funk.

I saw a documentary on Arnold Swartzenager. All of the people he delt with in his rise were most impressed with his setting and focusing on goals. Believe it or not he did not make his big money on the movies he was in. He used the body building competitions as capital for high risk real estate investment. The kind that only one in 10 paid off, but when one did pay off it paid for 20 or 30 investment failures. He started with 1, 5, and 10 year plans that he kept updating since he was 14. It was very interesting that his body building was just a means to an end. Taking something he was good at and using it to achieve his life goals.

Isn't that what got John Paul Jr and his dad in a wee bit of trouble?

I know a few people that took a hobby as a career and quickly ruined the fun of the hobby for themselves.

In the end it is called WORK because it is just a job. That does not mean you have to hate doing it. I know there are a lot of jobs I simply don’t want. Some of them pay very well. I could never work in the food industry. I know some people that own restaurants, and that is a tough job. Doing something you are good at is fun if you can receive the customer feedback. We recently finished a job that the customer took the time to call and say how happy they are with the final product. That will make your day.
