I know some people are against freon with stopleak.... But a can of it and a top off with R12 has me still making ice cold air after 4yrs..... And it gets warm in the summer here too....

Hmmm, don't know how far you've dug into it, but a few other possibilities:
Compressor clutch
Evap fan
T-stat switch
expansion joint (rarely seen these fail).

You should probably have it pressure tested first. Most indy shops and even local flaps (Pep Boys, etc.) should be able to handle it. It certainly doesn't have to be a p-car wrench, or dealer.

Have you put a set of gauges on it yet? Thats the first place to start if you think its got a leak...
