I LOVE having a turbo!!!

So, some of you may remember, about 3 weeks ago I bought an '04 Mazdaspeed Miata. They made 4000 of the turbos in '04, and made 1428 of the 4000 planned '05 models before the factory burned down in '05.

My old miata has 133hp, the next gen had 142hp, and the turbo models have 178hp, so it's not a huge increase. The newest model of NA miata has a larger engine with 170hp, so it's nearly as fast as the turbos. Apparently, without increasing the boost, and by spending between $1000 and 2000 the turbo's hp number can be bumped up to around 250 at the crank.

The difference in acceleration between the older NA models and my turbo is nice all through the rpm range. In my old '97, if I wanted to pass on the freeway, I'd usually downshift to 4th or 3rd, now I can easily pass in 6th.

The Mazda speed also comes with specially valved Bilstein shocks (not struts, the miata has coilover shocks), stiffer springs, and stiffer sway bars.

Boost is fun, but I like how the car is even stronger lower in the powerband as well.

The car is just a pleasure to drive. I carpool (boring, but better than fighting traffic) with it and drive it on weekends.

Now I need to get my old car sold so I can buy some of those upgrades.

But aren't you supposed to turn in your man-card 'cause you have a Miata?

Dunno, but I did feel compelled to go get a bed skirt and some pillow shams the other day. And I think I'm going to get a mani/pedi this weekend. I've never felt the urge before, what do you think is wrong?

And for some reason, I'm starting to notice that colors are taupe, mauve, periwinkle, teal, pumkin and avocado.

Boost is good.

Hmmm, astronaut ride height there. Is your car that high off the ground, Steve?

Good question, the MSM does sit 7mm lower than the standard miata, but not super low. Since mine is stock, it probably does sit that high. Now I'm curious and have to go check.

I had height adjustable coilovers on my last car, but don't have that sort of mod planned for this one yet.

The hot little receptionist was standing next to them having a cigarette listening to them and she replied 'oh no, he's not gay.'

Priceless.

Of course the icing on the cake with the MSM is that it is the best looking Miata that they ever made. I also think you can pick up about twenty ponies for much lass than 2000.00.

Have fun.

Right, there are folks that says that adding a cone filter to the MAF and removing the airbox helps a bunch. Since I'd like to end up with the 60-70hp, I'm just going to wait until I can buy a new intake and exhaust. And by intake, I don't mean the manifold, I mean the airbox/filter.
