What's the best route mapping website?
I took a little trip around the US and Canada in my Westfalia, and would like to put the route on a digital map. Thing is, I drove about 38,000 miles. From San Francisco, up to northern Alaska, down to Key West FL, up to New Brunswick, and all points in between. I visited all 49 states on the continent.
I had a paper map with the route, but lost it. But I have a log of all my fuel stops, so I tried putting all those towns into google maps, and it worked for about ten stops, then couldn't do any more. It showed the towns, put stopped highlighting the route. Sites like google maps or yahoo maps get bogged down on directions, which I don't need. Is there an easy way I can do this?

Google Earth should do it.

I wish I had even the gas receipts. I've been on many roads in CA that I can't even find now.

Look back at your credit card bills. They should have the locations where you purchased fuel from...

Google Earth will let you put a push pin at every stop. You can probably set up a rout from pin to pin, or the entire trip.
We use real GIS mapping software that would make it easy to plot out the route. The bad news is PhotoShop is easy to use and cheap in comparison. I really think if you spend some time with Google Earth you can do it for free.

No help now BUT that would have been a perfect time to use a geo-tagging camera (iPhone). That combined with a smart phone that would allow you to drop push pins (iPhone) would have worked awesome!
