9mm Subcompact?
So I finally got my letter from Charles Bronson.
I bought my G26 for carry duty, but I'd like something smaller for when that is not practical. Something with a single-stack magazine. Something Ruger LCP-sized. I've shot the Kel-Tec PF-9 and it's not my cup of tea. What else is there?

I have a 9mm Kahr K9 that meets your description. It is very easy to conceal and has always worked well.

Most of the single stack Sigs have a very wide grip. My Browning HP doesn't seem very wide. The Kahr is nice and small. They have a number of different models depending on budget and features.

i have an HK USP compact 9. 10rd mags if ya live in BIZZARRO world and 13 rd mags for us nermal folk.
i have tritium night sites, ambi-decocker(my kids wrong handed), and it has gone to ROBAR for NP3 treatment. its cute as a bugs ear. its idiot proof. a retard can take it apart and put back together for cleaning. it has never FTF nor FTE on me EVER! and i have fed it a bunch of crap ammo from around the world. it is +P rated. it loves IDF subsonic ammo also. it does not like CCI 9mm snake shot. not enough UMMPPH to cycle action, but if ya need more than one snake shot, hell ya got a damn big snake on yer hands. i love it. i bought it about a month after they came out years ago. not one damn problem.

Depends on how you really want to carry it. In the summer when I am wearing shorts, I pocket carry. When you do that it is all about size and weight. If you don't want your shorts dragging down or have people wondering about that bulge in your pocket, you are really looking at the Ruger LCP/Kel Tec P3AT/Tarus 738, all in .380. Anything else is going to be larger and heavier. This link has a good review of all three: .380 pocket pistol information - top choices for under*$350 - Home - ONEINCHGROUP.com - Gun Reviews and More...

entertaining the idea

I highly recommend the LCP. I have about 250 hiccup free rounds through mine (80% fmj and 20% jhp). The last outing at the range I did go through about 70 rounds of my friend's random .380 ammo where no two rounds where the same without a problem. It is a reliable little gun. It is very easy to pocket carry as it not much larger than today's smartphones. I am looking into iwb holsters just because that may be more comfortable with jeans. My only warning would be that it tends to bother your hand after a long series of shooting.
YMMV

Legion is a big guy with big hands...I wonder if the LCP or the Keltec that Ruger copied will be too small for him. Although I seem to recall he has a friend who has an LCP duty BUG. Maybe shoot it to see.
The PF9 is not very comfortable, but with a rubber grip added it feels much better. You should try shooting it with the rubber grip cover. How about a P7S? (here comes snipe) |

Springfield makes a really small 1911 based 9mm - expensive, but very nice.

Kahr MK9 if you want real steel, PM9 if you don't mind poly.
Best DA trigger available in a subcompact. Single stack mag. Dead-nuts accurate for a tiny gun. Plus, you know, hotties. ![]()

If you don't mind paying a bit more for a very high-quality piece, how about the Rohrbaugh R9?
9mm power, in a size barely bigger than the LCP. |

Guns and Ammo compared the R9 to the PF9 and the PF9 was on par if not exceeded the R9.

well if ya start talking 9mm KURZ(.380)...............well my choices(and today since its 112degrees F. here its a walther ppk/s stainless day)
walther ppk/s or HK4-.380/.32/.25/.22 all with just changing barrels. too simple. HK4 1st HK ever imported by harrington and richardson for HK. i have (3) of them with all (4) barrels. (1) of those is the anniversary model NIB UNFIRED .380 and .22 laying in plushy purple velvet in the original presentation box. gold sideplates marking anniversary of H&R. rather finicky with some .380 ammo same as walther ppk/s. all have been ramped and polished and (1) HK4 has been to ROBAR for NP3 coating. once ya figure out what they like to eat and get 200rds downrange they are damn fine small effective mouse guns. stole my walther ppk/s up in prescott. it was an early S&W production model. bought it for $329. it had been fired. left spoon o rama shop in prescott valley and not 15 minutes later we were trying to shove hornaday personal defense rounds down its throat. didnt like feeding. that night got on puter and discovered ALL waltehr ppk/s built by S&W had been RECALLED due to decocker sometimes allowing round to go off when used. (real bad ju-ju). this RECALL had been issued 2 days earlier. so i whipped mine into S&W and they polished ramp and lightened double and single action and its a SHOOTER! mucho bueno and very accurate to boot for apiss ant mouse gun. how ya tell if a S&W built walther ppk/s has been recalled and had decocker work done by factory is on top of HAMMER there is a PUNCH MARK placed by FACTORY TO ID THAT IT WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED! the german produced or manhurin (france) produced pistols prior to S&W taking over production WERE NOT INVOLVED! another bad ass lil 9mm is the WALTHER P-5C. this is a compact version of the P-5 which went head to head in the early 1980's with HK's P9S in 9mm for the west german police and military contracts. HK won .

And of course if your clothing requires it due to heat, etc. don't be afraid to step down to a 22 mag derringer or similar (22mag out of a derringer barrel is about like 22lr out of a rifle, and will penetrate 12-14"). Remember - the mouse gun you have wiht you is better than the 45 you left at home...

I can't say enough good things about my USP compact. I have the stainless slide version which, I believe, is NLA.

now for a real POCKET ROCKET look at a springfield ULTRA COMPACT in .45. can you say HAND CANNON?
bought mine a few years back. shoved 200rds thru it. took to DR. NELSON FORD(thegunsmith.com) went thru it completely, then took to ROBAR and had NP3 applied. EATS EVERYTHING FEED TO IT. HP's ,FMJ's,crap nato ammo. since its an alloy frame/slide, they are not meant for repeated target shooting. any small or ultra compact .45 is not BUILT like a full size .45., its always YING/YANG. gain one thing(light weight) give up another(strength). very accurate. and ONE HELL OF A BANG AND FLASH! a real hoot and a HANDFUL to shoot, ask me how i know. very concealable. night sites are highly recommended as i have done.
