If he can afford the car, he can probably afford the ticket.

It sounds like the fines are scaled to a person's income also, so I suspect that's relative to what he makes (same as a couple hundred bucks to most of us). For some people money really is no object.

It's Obama's fault.

Need to take that with a grain of salt. I live here and never heard of this fine scheme based on income. Not that I qualify for this level....

They do that in Scandinavia, though...

BS IMO

the fine according to income thingy...
Same crime, same penalty regardless of income is IMO the right thing to do.
Ok, he can afford it, but still, not fair.

I would hire a homeless guy to come with me next time I plan to go that fast.
When you get caught, you just say the homeless guy was driving. Pay the fine... 20€... 'cause he ain't got no income...., give the bum 50 and be done with it....

Hell of a record to hold, the world's most expensive speeding ticket.... I would frame it and hang it on the wall.

Exactly...both very orderly, very socialist....

As friend Stan Mott once wrote, you could bed the wife of a Swiss Banker and he'd shrug, and hope she enjoyed herself. But mess with his money and it would be life in prison.

Stan left Switzerland...it's orderlyness began to bug him...

My bad...I've read of similar fines in Sweden. Socialistic ideas spread...

"A Swedish motorist is facing the world's biggest speeding fine of pounds 650,000 after being caught driving at almost 300km/h on a Swiss motorway"

Thinking about it...a Mustang may have a sort of "cool" factor in either Switzerland OR Sweden...Mercedes cars are plentiful in both countries.

Anybody ever see the 60's flick "A man and a woman"? Mustang played a role in that one.

(edit) 2nd thought...this footage deserves it's own thread.

Actually I don't think this is a hoax. I have heard of a number of speeding fines based on net-worth handed out in the time I lived in Switzerland.

The Swiss take speeding very seriously. I was photographed there in the spring doing 70 kmh in a 50 kmh zone. Not exactly racing in other words—and still my case has already gone to the public prosecutor with whom I'm now "negotiating" a settlement by email and telephone. It's all rather bizarre really.
