AT&T U-Verse who's using it ?
I am thinking about switching from cable to U-Verse. Any of you guys using it ? How is it ? How's the quality and reliability ? And what about the internet quality and reliability ? How's the speed ? Any other feedback ? Thanks

I got it and it's fine.
The menu guide where I go to see what's on is a bit slow and cumbersome but no other problems to report. |

terrific. ...there has been one hitch (1 week offline due to a blizzard) but of course, i didnt get charged for that week. my parents have dish, and anytime a storm or bad weather is remotely close, it goes out.
ive had really good luck with their customer service, as well. i've goofed up the connections a couple of times, and they've never charged me to come out and fix it.

Excellent service. Free shows on demand, lightning fast internet. My only complaint is the free movies on demand broadcast at slower than 120hz so they are sometimes a little choppy on my flatscreen.

Got it, very happy. Helps to be close to a fiber line and have a level II tech do the install.

After doing some additional internet surfing it looks like the " average " install takes 3 - 4 hours. For those of you that have it was that the case ? As of yet all my research has been via the net I have not called them because I'm not moved into my new home yet. Anyone in Georgia have it ? Anyone in Marietta ? That's where I'm moving. Thanks guys.

My house was built in 1908, and they ran all new lines to the house, and then replaced all of my existing phone wiring inside the house, as well as crawled around in the crawl space and routed some new wiring and a box to where was convenient to have my flatscreen above my fire place. The total time was about 6 hours, but mine was a big job, since they replaced wiring. ...free install, too.

What he said. Once every 3 weeks or so the TV loses sound. Turn off the tv and u-verse box and all is well again.

Disclaimer - I work for the three letter telecommunications company.
Our install took the tech about 6 hrs - for 5 TV's. Some of the system features take getting use to, if you're switching from a competitor. The instant record feature works different - so you have to be aware of those differences. The Video On Demand, interactive weather, and multi-view screens are all pretty neat. The number of channels available is staggering. Be aware, the system is limited to 4 incoming video streams (usually 2 HD, 2 SD). If you have more than 4 TVs in use at the same time (including recordings), someone is not going to be able to watch live TV. Same type limit with HD service - if 2 HD's in use (including recordings), HD service won't be available to anyone else. And like the commercial - you can "pick up" a TV recording and watch it from from any other TV.

Been on it since December. I have TV, phone and internet. All work well and I am very pleased, especially compared to Time Warner Cable.
Returning my TWC gear to the office was a happy day!

We've had it now for about 2 months. That was upgrading from rabbit ears and 1mbps DSL.
Install? Our house was prewired for cat 6 incoming from a previous tenant. 1 TV. Took 3 visits over 7 days. Neighbors have it up to 7 visits over 14 days. Good stuff...grrr... Actually, it's because the homeowner where the main junction box is is a jackhole, who decided he didn't like the junction box, so he started moving it around. Yes, you heard me. However, once it was working, it's been flawless. We had it turned on a few hours before the World Cup, and abused it during that time (recording, watching, deleting, etc). 200 channels (150 of which are SD/HD repeats, Korean, annoying news stations, etc and turned off of our listing). 12mbps internet and phone is $165 a month or so. Got $325 in reward cards for signing up, they arrived pretty promptly and worked as expected. Every time a speed test it, I get at least 10.5mbps on the internet, even with an HD feed going to the TV. Haven't done any on-demand stuff, since I have Netflix. The recording process is easy, and the fun things that I've never seen before (having been a TV luddite) are cool, like being able to log in at work and schedule a recording. If you have a house alarm or lose power often, you should consider keeping a hardwired phone line as well. Alarms don't play well with it, and the phone is run through the residential gateway, with only a few hours (at best) battery power.

We've had UVerse for about 4 years (TV and Internet). We don't use it for VOIP (phone). We've been very happy with the performance and reliability.
