I just got the ipad and I'm already wanting to smash it!
I'm not an Apple person.... OK.. So I buy this thing from Best Buy and bring it home. But I can't use it until I connect it to iTunes. WTF? So I try to download it a dozen times, SERIOUSLY, and it still doesn't work. I don't get it but it says it downloads but there's no .exe file anywere or it doesn't install. I just went to another computer to try it and I'm still waiting. I don't care about iTunes I just want to surf the web, check e-mail, put some pics on there, etc. This is becoming a huge project and if it doesn't work it-self out soon it'll be returned. So far don't waste you money this thing SUCKS!

Are you saying you cant get iTunes to work on your home pc?
from here: Apple - iTunes - Everything you need to be entertained. btw, iPad Rocks!, but it is limited in use. For traveling purposes, much better to have a small notebook. |
You don't answer my call
With even a nod or a twitch But you gaze at your own profile! You don't seem to see me But I think you can see yourself. How can the iPad affect you? Can you hear me Or do I surmise That you fear me can you feel my temper Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, Rise, rise, rise! Do you hear or fear or Do I smash the iPad? Do you hear or fear or Do I smash the iPad? |
Are your PC's wireless? Mine times out often and I have to connect it to the modem with a wire. Once your PC is working, hook up the iPad and synch it.

Use the SAVE option instead of RUN. It will drop an install icon to your desktop.
If you have to, drop it onto a running PC, then drag it to a flash drive....load the IPAD from that. |

He's mad at the ipad because it needs software installed on a different machine before it can run.

Feel free to send it to me. I promise not to complain.

Bottom line for most is this: an iPad is a great supplemental tool, but it cant take the place of a laptop. |

Maybe he should be mad at Best Buy. |
I never tried an iPad, but iTunes sucks sweaty donkey balls. My iPod is embedded in a light pole in some parking lot somewhere.

It's not supposed to take the place of a laptop, now a netbook is another matter..... ASUS lowering Eee PC shipments due to iPad
updated 10:00 am EDT, Mon August 16, 2010ASUS drops netbook aims after iPad impact The iPad's cooling effect on netbooks may have had its first clear evidence after an ASUS presentation at an investors' conference on Friday. Despite summer being the usual peak for Eee PC sales, CEO Jerry Shen dropped his company's netbook shipment estimates in the season to 1.4 million PCs, reportedly due to Apple's tablet. ASUS now expects to ship between seven and eight million Eee PCs through all of 2010. Shen remained committed to the Eee PC line but also reassured investors that ASUS would compete with Apple in the tablet space through the Eee Pad line, which will now have Android as well as Windows 7 and Windows Embedded Compact 7 variants. The first of these won't start shipping until December at the earliest, however, and will give Apple a roughly eight month lead. Apple has already outsold ASUS' combined spring and summer shipments with 3.27 million iPads having shipped worldwide. It's expected to only grow that number in the summer as it still faces seven- to 10-day shipping delays and retail shortages, even with increased production and wider availability. The lowered forecasts partly mirror an overall cooling of netbook demand as the platform matures, but it may also reflect a growing dissatisfaction with the category compared to tablets like the iPad. Netbooks can run more software and cost less but are often subjectively slower due to the higher overhead of Windows and the relatively low power Atom chip. They also usually have shorter battery life while still measuring roughly twice as thick and heavy. Read more: ASUS lowering Eee PC shipments due to iPad | Electronista |
You'll get it. Don't blame the machine. Its hardly ever the machine.

I am considering getting an iPad once they have one which supports multi-tasking. (I'd say I'd also like to see one that supports flash, but I wouldn't hold my breath). Having to use a dongle to connect anything USB is a drag too, and an SD memory slot is sorely missing from the current iPAD. Would would really be nice is if they had a way of attaching an external DVD drive to the unit, and be able to copy the DVD onto the iPAD without having to buy a movie via iTunes, or rent a video via the NetFlicks app. Why should I pay once again for a movie that I already own? And if you want to watch Hulu shows on your iPad? No problem as long as you pay the price ($8.99) to become a premium Hulu user. <-- yet another rip-off!! So for me the bottom line is this: I like the iPad, but there are quite a few things that need to be tweaked on it before I seriously consider getting one. And the new iPhone OS4 doesn't even have half of this tweaks I desire. -Z-man. |

iTunes is a gigantic CF targeted for people who can't think for themselves.

Geez, you're comparing Apple to ASUS? . . .is it that bad? I mean, sure, the iPad has a funny name, and that giant Etch-a-Sketch sized bezel, with a 4:3 ratio to match that 'last millenium' look ... can't multi-task, no camera, no skype. ..etc. ...but to claim to be slowing down ASUS sales? . . just because someone doesn't like the thing? ..h'okay... btw, just how much Apple stock do you own? |
Fwiw I love my iPad
And I'm an idiot |
