2000 miles, anyone?
Driven that far in a couple days, maybe 2-1/2?
I've done only about 800 in a single day (I've done 2K before, but over 4-5 days). What should I expect? Difficult? I have a car (not a P-car, a boring car) to pick up, debating flying/driving it home or just having it shipped. Price is probably only a few hundred different. Thanks. |

I'd say depends on the route...if boring freeway all the way, ship it...if some scenery or roadside attractions along the way, make the drive.

I have driven 900 miles in one day in my 911 on several occasions. It is a long day but no big deal.

3 1/2 days = San Diego to FTL, 2630 mi. No women passengers, so didn't have to stop much.

It's a haul but can be done 1000 miles a day is real tough but 2 1/2 days is realistic
Where's the car?

Exactly...I'd say drive it only if the route would entail places you've wanted to see...

I left El Paso,Tx. Tues. morn. Delivered Norwich,Ct. Fri. morn. and was home for lunch.
2600 miles = about 742 miles per day. In a car you'll make better time then i do with a truck. I'd allow yourself 3 days for your trip don't push yourself if you don't have to.

FL to CO. I looked at a route that was a lot more interesting, but it's about 500 miles farther and I don't have time to spend 3 to 3-1/2 days doing this right now. Shipping sounds the better way, I think. |

Countless 1,000+ mile days on my m/c........More than 5 at 1,150, one at 1,280 (San Diego - Seattle) and just a few weeks ago of 1,080 Grand Junction to Lake Cle Elum........No fun, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do........The key is a good freeway w/o slowdowns and limit your stops........

It's not worth it unless you make a vacation out of it. I love road trips, but hot footing it non-stop from FL to CO is one of the last things I'd ever consider doing.

Done it both ways.
Driving all night is no longer an option for me, so I don't even try. Did a straight through with a buddy this Spring from Fla to NY, but I was too toasted to function at work, and there were a couple of gruesome hours there where staying awake was a serious problem. Whatever you do, be safe. |

I was looking forward to it - doing the 'scenic' route, but can't, due to time. I'd have to do it over a weekend.
2000 miles on a freeway across the midwest doesn't seem like a thrill. |
