1991 lambo diablo .... feedback?
A friend of mine recently offered me his 1991 Lambo Diablo 22,000 miles average body condition for $65,000.00. Looks to me to be a fair price. Anyone out there own a Lambo? When asked about maintenance costs he just smiled and said all cool cars are expensive to maintain! He has records from PO and his own, the only one I saw was a $18,000.00 clutch replacement! ( not a typo $18,000.00) . Car is super fast and responsive but very uncomfortable and has the worst viability of anything I've ever driven! ( worse than a Europa!!! ) That said....... it sure would be fun!!

For $65k find a decent Ferrari 360, you will not only enjoy it more (it's got room for me to spare I'm 6'5) but the clutch job will only set you back half that.

Never owned or driven one but a guy I know that owns a local ferrari repair shop called enzo motors told me that a Ferrari is expensive to maintain but lamborghini's cost twice as much or more to keep on the road.

We just serviced a 2001 Diablo we now have in inventory. Brake job = $12,000. Oil Change = $1100. Clutch & Flywheel = $10,900.
Big boy cars = big boy expenses. $65k buys you a very nice 996 turbo ![]() |

I can see brakes running a big number if they are exotic like Porsche ceramics. Same with clutches. |

I also am interested at how an oil change could possibly cost 1100...
$300 for a filter and oil + 8hrs at $100hr? Man I have to quit my job and become a Lambo mechanic

I can't speak to all of the costs but I've seen this oil change done at a dealer I worked at and it's interesting. You technically need a special wrench to get the filter out, which is on the top of the engine between the two intakes. It's in an unholy spot for changing an oil filter.
After that they had to extract the filter element and thread the new filter element into the housing, then re-install the housing. After that 18 quarts of oil had to be removed from two different drain plugs and they had to refill it with Shell helix. You first had to fill it half way, then run it a bit, fill it some more, then drive it and fill it again. I can see how it would be more expansive, but not that expensive.

Now in 993 land ...

I wouldn't do it. That car is somewhat stuck between the classic looks of the 80s lambos and the modern look of the >2001. Could this be the 964 of lambos?
![]() I don't think there is a lot of DIY support but I am sure parts are a lot cheaper than the repair bills. You can probably do that clutch for $5k or less. George ![]() |

I met the owner of the Lambo Dealership here in Sandy Springs (Atlanta Suburb) a few months ago at my grandson's basket ball game. His son goes to the same school. He was telling me that there are alot of used Lambo's on the market given the economy. He was looking a picking one up for his used inventory. Inspection indicated new brakes needed. He had his service dept give him an estimate on the parts/brake job - $37,000 for a brake job. You gotta be kidding me! I think he passed on the car and so should you unless you've got $$$ you're willing to flush!
