Blaming everything on the gubmit is really fun, I guess, but over-simple and intellectually boring.

Indeed, a .45 ACP is my choice too. When hiking/backpacking, my greatest fear is the two-legged animals, followed by cougs, then bears.

Do they taste just like chicken?

You're gonna need something bigger than that for Cougar or Bear...

Cougar's here just look at your financials. No money means they won't attack you.

I agree with bear. But I expect that a .45 will put down a Cougar.

We have gators. 6 ft no problem 12 ft big problem, once a year we get one of those big mofos deciding to hang out in the Bayou. Alligator catchers are crazy people.

Don't be ridiculous(again) Parfessor.

If you ban effective hunting, and they have more food, will the population go up or down? I thought you were a biologist, or an astronaut, some type of Scientician.

Getting more problems with the 4 legged cougars in Cali for similar reasons.

Tobe-phoot, you are the one being ridiculous - try to stick (like a wad of gum) to something you know about.

The answer to your question is that popn #'s could do either -- not that all hunting is necessarily "effective."

Right Randy, I have read sooo many studies that support your nonsense

You need to get your money back on that correspondence school degree, they ripped you off.

My thoughts exactly. I suspect a .45 could put a cougar down decisively. Bear.....depends on how many trigger-squeezes. Here in the PNW, our bears are manageable-sized, for the most part. Kodiac bears are three or four times the size of ours. Again, while I accept the possibility that a local bear might become angry with me, I generally don't see them as terribly dangerous overall. They generally just want to be left alone to eat huckleberries and poop. A cougar will stalk a human. If I am hiking and find myself sharing a path with a cougar, I will point and shoot. If I see a bear, I will maximize my distance.

Can't say a big cat would ever bother me as I dipped my toes in my hot tub sip'n a chilly one.

Reduce the chance of failure by avoiding the opportunity.
