We call that part of the country "Baja Oklahoma"

Point is that there is not a whole lot that okies are known for, and Texas is, well its known for a lot.

Before you give me a ration of chit, I have family members from OK and used to live there. There just is not much to brag about other than the oil underground there and Will Rogers...

GH85Carrera 09-09-2010 05:11 AM

Yea, we produce more Country & Western stars than anything. It is a shame I hate C&W music.

There was a story in the paper yesterday about a new CURE for hearing loss from noise. The medical research hospitals in OKC are just now getting to human trials. The Pentagon is very interested in the process.

We like to keep a low profile. We don’t want all the Okies that moved to Kalifornia to come back. My wife is the HR director at a local university. They recently hired a Professor for more money than she was making in LA. She had three room-mates at a rental property and could not afford a car. It took her over an hour every day to commute to work.

Now she owns a 3,000 sq ft house on a 14 acre lot and has two show horses and drives a BMW 7 series and has a Ford F350 pickup to pull the horse trailer.

porsche4life 09-09-2010 05:42 AM

Yup Texas is know for a lot... Jackasses driving uber huge vehicles is one of them....

Tobra 09-09-2010 05:47 AM

Mickey Mantle was from OK, that makes them at least even with anyplace else.

porsche4life 09-09-2010 05:48 AM

As well as several astronauts, TV and Music stars, etc...

Groesbeck Hurricane 09-09-2010 06:44 AM

Sidney,

I'd respond but my overgrown pick-up is in the way!

I never really understood the hate/hate relationship between Texas and Oklahoma. Between the skools, yep, but not the people...

And as far as cost of living: my in-laws moved to OK where they could afford 200 + acres and a 5,000sqft home with a 3600sqft outbuilding and it was not the frozen north.

I'd suggest everyone from KA stays AWAY from Texas and Oklahoma. Both states have much going for them and don't need no liberals! I can't wait to get back. Think I will be in OK either October or December this year.

GH85Carrera 09-09-2010 07:17 AM

Most of the back and forth between OK & TX springs from the big football game. 99% is all in fun. There are total jerks from both states that take it personal and get mean.

I live about 20 miles North of San Antonio. The beginning of the Hill Country. The Storm
hit on Tuesday and continued into Wednesday. I'm guessing the +/- 10 inches. We got
another wave last night +/- 3 inches in a hour. The way I came home last night FM 1863
was passable, so I tried going that way this morning. The baracades were up but I continued.
This time they had the Sheriff blocking the crossing at Cibilo creek. Some poor guy had tried
to make the crossing in his big truck and his family was following him. He did not make it.
They have yet to find his body! And his poor family had to watch this bad turn of events.
I believe this storm has killed about 5 people in this area.

So, emergency warnings telling motorists to "get off the road" actually mean "everyone but you"? You're so damn skilled, and behind the wheel of such a fine automibile that surely such warnings are only meant for everyone else? After all, your time is improtant. You have a schedule to keep.

What an ass hole.

GH85Carrera 09-09-2010 07:45 AM

It is amazing to me that with every flood some idiot will drive into water. I feel sorry for the family that had to watch dad kill himself.

It's OK, as long as they stay in the interment camp (Austin) until they are a couple of generations Texan...

porsche4life 09-09-2010 08:04 AM

I'm with Glenn... Its mostly all in good fun. I could see myself living in some parts of Texas.

As far as the foolsball games.... If tejas thumps OU I'm ok with that too... But thats a personal matter.

I worked with Okies for 33 years till I retired. Good guys. Like to hunt and fish and they do have some great lakes over there. My son in law is a 4th year med student in OKC. My father in law is an okie. Born in Oilton. My grandaughter was born in the "City", 2 months ago today. My daughter who grew up with Porsches is bringing her over for a couple of days next week. I'm going to recreate a pic I took over 25 years ago. We had just purchased the 930 and taken it on a 1,000 journey. Visiting my brother in Lawrence I snapped a pic of my daughter 3 holding a doll checking out the new ride. This time it will be her daughter.

I'm calling a Texas-sized pile of bull schit on this story. Either that or you hired the dumbest cooz in our state to teach at your university. My income varies quite a bit but it's not usually much and I have no room mates and own 5 cars/trucks free and clear. They are not new Porsches but you're saying that she "could not afford a car??" Jesus, you fools will believe anything down there... If Rush or the bible radio station says it, it must be true, right?

And as for intentionally mis-spelling my state, go fuch your goat.

Oh, did you really read his post? He said DJ's(Disk Jockeys) suggested it... I know a DJ that suggested to vote for Hillar Clinton as it'd give him a lot of material, should I of also voted for HC?

And secondly, actually, probably firstly, he made it, and didn't have a problem.

GH85Carrera 09-09-2010 09:33 AM

Wow such venom. The lady has a PhD. and teaches physics. I did not make up the story; it’s what she told the folks she works with now.

As far as Kalifornia HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

If it really bothers you I will endeavor to spell it that way from now on. Thanks for the input ya crazy Kali-fornicator.

Les Paul 09-09-2010 09:41 AM

Speeder has the misconception that all people from Texas wear cowboy boots, hats, shirts, the cowboy get up, drive pickups listen to Rush, Fox News.

Got news for you, none of the above for me.

And he seems to be very sensitive about Kalifornia :D:D

I am just crushed that he does not like it. I feel so bad that I hurt his feelings. But what the heck can I expect from a PC Kalifornicator.
