Anyone else having problems with ATT phones not ringing? `
Anyone using ATT cell service have a problem with them the last six months?
My Blackberry works great about 80% of the time but usually once or twice a day no ring what so ever, but the message pops up in the screen "you have a missed call" and usually a VM has been left. I go to the ATT store and the look like I am "round the bend" but doing a search on the internet finds that this has been happening for months. We even tried it at the ATT store and guess what? No ring... Signal is strong and it happens in random places. Email with the 'berry works fine, no hiccups there. Would love to figure this one out... or may have to go elsewhere for cell service. Oh good heavens YES!!! We have exactly that same problem with two of the AT&T phones. The one here at the houes does it intermittently. Our daughter's does it constantly - pretty near 90% or better of the time. As the one at the house is only intermittent, we've not been able to figure out the issue.
Our daughter's phone is with her in Denali Park. Until the season is over and she gets back here, we can't diagnose that one. We've had her pull the battery to reset, etc., with no changes. Hope you figure out what it is - and post please. Otherwise, her phone stays flaky until October when she returns to the land of good coffee and cheap Porsche's (home - LOL)! angela

Angela,
What perturbed me was that the people at the ATT store acted like they had never heard of it happening before. Either they live in a cave or are pretty good actors. Assume that you guys do not have a Blackberry but a normal phone? If yes, then this means that its the ATT network or system and not that specific type of phone. I had changed from the 9300 to the new 9700 hoping that it would help but so far not... Will see what all I can find out on it and get back to you. Thx, Joe

I've had it happen with T-Mobile on occasion, voicemail ping finally comes across like 6 hours after the call was left. I'm about ready to use the thing as a jack pad.

Joe,
The "house phone" cell is a brand new Iphone. Our daughter and son have identical phones, both purchased new in June. One fails to ring, the other works perfectly... As far as T-mobile goes, I use that for my work cell. It also started "not ringing" on occasion. Probably been doing it for 2 or 3 months. I'll actually have the phone in my hand and it will go straight to message or just show a "missed call." There is no way I'll ever get that one straightened out as it's got to be done through coporate... But sure seems odd that AT&T and T-Mobile both are demonstrating the same issue in my area. Do they share towers? I really think this is a network issue. Like you, Joe, I get the blank stare down at the AT&T store... ![]() angela

Same exact thing on my end. We were holding the phone at the ATT store and no ring, then the bubble pops up saying that you missed a call.
Hmmm, this now looks like a ATT and T-Mobile issue and not just the phone...

What Wayne said.
Personally I think it's more nefarious than that. When I lived in NY my AT&T phone would randomly turn off every day for a couple of weeks then just stop. Was usually overnight but occasionally during the day as well. I never turn my phone off and habitually plug them in every night so it was not me or dead battery. Talking to other AT&T users with different devices and they would experience the same thing. I always suspected ATT would simply turn off phones at random to deal with capacity issues. I get the no ring thing as well.

My employer, who insists those of us in certain positions have company cell phones, recently switched from Verizon to AT&T. This happens to all of us quite frequently. No rings on incoming calls, and voicemails that will sometimes take overnight to pop up on our phones. It's terrible. It's convinced me that I would not use AT&T as my personal cell service. We all file complaints, and we all wonder what the real costs are of switching to this cheaper service.
