Is that the pistol equivalent of "goes to eleven"?
"hey check this one out - it goes to seven!"

A little too big for Concealed carry?

Model 686 "plus". They make the 686 in both 6 and 7 shot. I was thinking of the Dirty Harry bit actually...they also make an 8-shot version that really will confuse bad guys.
No concealed carry for that. I'm interested to shoot it back to back with the Sigs because my hunch is that I am more accurate with the revolver. The red ramp and thin white outline is really easy for me to sight. It does make a fine bang with .357 loads too

now keep your eyes open for the roving smith and wesson custom shop guys coming to a town near you soon............or find a smithy who does super smith jobs, or ship it to smiths custom shop(check custom shop web site and drool at engraving-hand and lazer) worth every penny and then some:
1) chamfer cylinder for quick reloads of speedloaders. 2) change out trigger springs for your perfect break. ie. custom to your liking. 3) polish trigger pad 4) combat cylinder latch release lever(longer-simpler) 5) single or dual magnaport and be able to handle hot loads and come back onto target wayy quicker with mucho less muzzle rise. and thats how you make a smith werk REAL NICE! |

We've got to find the "macro" setting on your camera Charles
![]() My friends 45-70 rifles were all ported and were surprisingly pleasant to shoot. I'm a believer. Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to have the barrel on my 39A shortened or sell it and find either a 39M or 9422. Something about a 24" barrel and 40" overall length .22lr feels too long and muzzle heavy. |

Looks like the Lady Smith? I bought my wife one for her birthday.
I also have a Ruger Super Blackhawk. Revolvers are cool. Super accurate and almost foolproof. Good balance, nice feel. Nothing like a good revolver. ![]()

magnaport.com. guys are great. hell of a quick turn around. worth every damn penny X 1000. be it .44mag or .357. hot loads/reloads/box loads. everyjuan who has shot that supersmith from nelson ford drools over the break on the trigger and how controllable it is. MCNASTY THIS! IM LOVING IT! does not hurt abit, does not make you flinch/whince/grit yer teeth/nor pee or poo yerself anymore with hot juans! shoot it all day everyday. its a gas! at night WOW!
bottomline you cannot shoot combat wombat without magnaporting and get all yer rounds on target. they are violent and they pack a hell of a punch.........on anything! muzzle rise goes to XILCH! if you notice dirty harrys model 29 with no underlug. my buddy has exact model. we were out shooting one day and after watching me shoot, he decided to try mine. following monday his was off to magnaport via UPS! it is remarkable how they tame a pure unadultarated MONSTER! dont let anyjuan give ya crap it dirtys the sites or they are hard to clean. hoppes #9 and some q-tips and the slots are clean. i lightly lube front sight so cleaning is a breeze! good luck with that smith. ya cant go wrong there! check their custom shop out. man if i lived near them i would owe my soul to the company store! |

The only problem with ported barrels is that they completely rule out cast bullets. The ports shave lead, eventually get soldered shut, and destroy accuracy. You damn near have to re-magnaport to get the lead out.
Cast lead bullets are far in a way the most effective projectiles for big bore revolver shooting. They can be driven to higher velocities than the same weight jacketed bullet and will out-penetrate the very best jacketed bullets by at least double in game. Penetration is the name of the game with big bore revolvers - it's what makes them such impressive killers for their relative lack of power. Even the most rompin' stompin' thunderin' .44 mag or .45 Colt loads have half the power of the lowly thutty thutty carbine. Due to this relative lack of power, the revolver shooter has to make some choices. You get penetration or expansion, but not both. These are not rifles, in spite of the impressive muzzle flash, noise, and recoil. Given the choice, I will take reliable penetration every time. You get that reliable penetration with hard cast semi wadcutters, which cannot be fired through ported barrels.

naw, having too much fun for that. And working my arse off as well. Though I might have to commit hari kari after the celebratory sushi dinner tonight. I set a personal record for most expensive meal ever. Pasta at home for the rest of the month...

Now in 993 land ...

Excellent choice. I like revolvers much better than semi-autos. I do not think that revolver will need any work - the single action trigger is phenomenal and even double action will be very precise.
The good thing about guns is that they do not loose much in value if you keep them up. Some of them even go up and outperform inflation ... George |
