I've only heard the smaller Acoustats, a bit thin sounding but I love most flat speakers for their openness.
Martin Logan's do it for me, but I've been tinkering on my own and may be on to something.

Let's see. Acoustat. 1980s. Company defunct or bought by Italians & disappeared. No parts possibility. They sounded good at the time but Quads always sounded better. SoundLab sounded better. Maggies sounded . . . different. Logans sounded . . . different. So if they still sound good, that's fine. Just don't spend money on them.

There are some incredibly well documented rebuild threads posted online. The plastic eggcrate grid is deeper than I ever expected.

Yeah, parts are an issue but the grids themselves are really robust-and the interfaces can be rebuilt if needed - I'm going to replace the electrolytics in mine.
The sound is really open and detailed-it lacks a little in the upper mids compared w/ the Quads, but this is really an interface issue. Whatcha cooking up George?

I remember thin bass and an extremely small sweet spot for the listener. But if you were sitting at the right spot, listening to the right material, they were very nice!

I still relish the hours spent listening to music on my dad's DQ10 Dahlquists. Power hungry, yes but that was covered by a massive SAE power amp.

1+1s. Ex-wife said 'no' to 8' speakers in the living room. Before the divorce was final, I had another set. Limited sweet spot but clean and open as few speakers are. Got 'em flanking the big screen and powered by a Bedini amp.

A classic high-end system. Throw in an ARC SP-10 pre & a Goldmund TT with a T3B arm & a Koetsu Black . . .
That screen is not helping your image depth, however. Throw a blanket over it during music sessions to bring some of it back. Ian
