It's not OK to be rude in a forum but you shouldn't take anything to seriously.
Why? People who are brave online and usually cowards in real life.

Have you ever tried online dating?

No, that's psycho-mumbo-jumbo. It is the "Me first" culture. Altruism and politeness are fine for someone else (l__t__d wussies), as long as I get mine. Me, me, me. Get outta my effin' way!

Ya well, everybody knows I'm a jerk. But I'm on 1, and the knob goes to 11.

If this were correct, than the following would not happen.

I'm on a Jeep forum regularly. OK usually it's fine, but there a people that seem to be foreign to the english language. Really unbelievable sometimes.

I was hammered big time several weeks ago for asking what in the world a ciylunoit was. Similar to "you idiut, is an eletruk thing on the pannell" Seriously.

Turned out to be a solenoid. Should have known. Phonetic. Kinda.

You're quoting Superman to dispel my psycho-mumbo-jumbo comment?

Sorry, was just going back to the source I originally refuted. I suppose using him as a source is tantamount to quoting Saul Alinsky, again, I apologize.

How about this Mr Richards, the OP asks, why is it okay to be rude on the forums. The implication is that people are more rude on a forum than in real life. It is a fairly well known fact that a significant contributing factor to road rage incidents is that the other person is reduced to the prick in the Porsche, or whatever.

I am no fan of psycho-babble, but psychology does have some merit. I use it on my patients all the time. If you tell a man he will get his foot cut off if he does not start taking his diabetes seriously, he is less likely to listen than he is if you point out he is likely to become impotent. You have to tailor the message to the audience.

Fortunately alot of these folks are getting a forced-education in austerity.

WRT the OP, I see no point in being rude online anymore than in person. Some of it may be a result of posting while intoxicated or just dealing with much younger people who haven't been bit**-slapped by life into seeing the advantages of politeness.

I would not say anything online that I wouldn't say face to face. I have numerous faults, cowardice is not among them.

I talk to people in in car forums because I like them. If I do not like the group or the individual, then I don't talk to them. There are alot of forums online. If one does not suit you, just move on.

This site and others, offer friendship, humor, knowlege, and camraderie. All of this for free in exchange for a little bit of good manners. Not a bad trade off. Not bad at all!

I am inclined to agree with this for the simple reason that having met a person and placed a name with a face and body language, I find myself conjuring up their image when responding to them over the Internet, on a web forum.

When all one has is a disembodied, mental perception of an "Internet personality" it is easier the dismiss their rantings as irrelevant to one's conditions of existence.

Come back when you've traded in that little girl's polka dot skirt for some big-boy jeans.

Why is it okay to be rude to people on forums?

Did you say something? I was ignoring you.
