Detroit 1-8-7 tonight at 10 EST on ABC
Looks really good. Stars Michael Imperioli (Goodfellas, Sopranos, Life on Mars).
Does anybody know if this is the show Hugh has been working on in Detroit?

Yes, it's mine. I'd appreciate any good or bad feedback.

My wife made these comments.. I didn't get a chance to watch it.
Liked the main character, the retro-style filming was kind of out of place. rating 0-10 a solid 6.

Watched 3 new shows last night and this was the best. It has potential but also has a long way to go "catch" me.

Honestly the commercials playing constantly during college football this weekend kind of turned me off from it. If they showed a short bit of the show during each commercial I could've watched the first couple of episodes 3 minutes at a time on Saturday alone.
Sounded kind of interesting though... might have it on while I'm working on the house next week because I can see the tv from the kitchen.

Thanks guys, I sort of feel the same way.
Any thoughts on the new Hawaii 50? I thought the premiere was pretty good. Lots of action for a TV show.

Idunno... to be honest the wife had Biggest Loser on and I was nearby working in the kitchen, powerless to do anything about the situation.

I liked it. It reminded me of the cop show based in L.A. that was cancelled for the Jay Leno show.

Because it was advertised so much during the college games, I decided to check it out. I stayed with it for ten minutes. Pat characters, ridiculous captions showing who the characters were, too much exposition and overall extremely slow-moving. I've seen better with "The Shield," and a lot better with BBC detective/cop productions like "Prime Suspect."
Too bad, because I don't usually watch prime time TV mostly for the reasons listed above.

Hugh, we recorded it Tues. night and watched it tonight... really liked it. Some of the tight shots are incredibly tight... almost uncomfortably tight, but they work because they're putting you "in the huddle" so to speak.
The scene where that perp runs off with the sliding board he had been cuffed to was hilarious. I thought the hostage scene was brilliant, because it was all from outside... from the cops POV... the only shots of the inside were through the windows, and the only sound from the inside was from phones and the wire on Fitch. Also, there were many, many shots that I thought were particularly well done from a lighting and direction standpoint... subtle stuff, but as an artist, it scores with me. I thought the pacing was perfect. I've got this one on it's own DVD, and I'm gonna record them every week... I hope it catches on and gets a big following, but if it doesn't, I wanna be able to have everything that's aired. Big thumbs up.

Detroit
Since I live in SE Michigan I really did not have a whole lot of interest and did not watch it.
Since a fellow Pelican is involved will try next week. Going to film in Detroit over the winter? |
