Q-grill or New Grill
The grate broke on my little Weber Q-grill, and I'm trying to figure out if I want to spend $45 on a new one or just pay more and get something else. I want to stay with propane.
-in favor of another Weber grate: $45 is not a lot - in favor of something else: grate should last more than 2 years I think (but Weber told me to pound sand on a warranty) also, it never seemed like the thing got the grate itself all that hot - and I do like to induce Maillard reactions on my steaks, salmon and etc. ... thoughts? |

Always buy grills with cast-iron grates. When replacing, always buy cast iron grates.

How did your grate break? Mine has lasted 5 years or so with constant use. I love it and take it everywhere (camping, tailgating, trips to the beach, etc.) To solve the heat problem you can drill out the holes a little bit and add a larger regulator. A buddy of mine did this to his and it cranks the heat out. I usually just leave mine on high for about 10-15 minutes to get the cast iron grate up to temperature.
