No Pelican catalog

Is there no Pelican catalog I can keep at home in my bathroom? That is where I do all my parts planning leading up to all my purchases. I already have all the competators catalogs plus I am on a damn computer all day at work so the last thing I ever do at my house is get online. I have not been in my wife's office at home in over a year b/c I am so sick of being infront of a monitor.

catalog = cost = higher prices (I don't have 3 MIT degrees and I can figger that one out)

Well widebody I guess that theory would be awesome if Pelican's prices where less than others but they really aren't so I guess I will keep shopping from my cataloges in my bathroom then. Besides, all of the "other" magazines are kept someplace other than the bathroom....

The pelican catalog is right in front of you. If anyone really needs a piece of paper in their hands to order parts, go to the PP site and print to your hearts desire. Second choice is to take a laptop in the bathroom.

Personally I as well enjoy a hard copy but know that they have to pay for them somehow, and that "somehow" is by charging me more for the parts I purchase. It ends up with my buying more from Pelican as they have the best asset in the world for Porsches (this forum) and very competitive prices.

I guess it is just a personal choice then Joe. I like to keep my parts catalogs in the garage as well and as I am planning jobs I flip through them and dog ear things, est. costs etc.... I have just always done it that way maybe b/c I started working on cars with my dad since before the Inet was a stain in some computer nerd’s wet dream someplace and my Dad did the catalog thing as well so I like to do it that way. I just felt I was surely overlooking a hard copy of the catalog some place and I wanted to order from here b/c I like the BBS so much and I wanted to help support it. However, the parts I have looked at on the web while at work I don't really remember them being any cheaper due to no printed catalog. Plus I feel bad as it is that I spend so much work time screwing around so I just wanted a at home version of the catalog and like I already mentioned my wife uses our home office so much and I don't wish to bother her. If I spent half as much time at home on the Inet as I do at work she would also likely think I was looking at porn again, oh not again I meant just looking at porn drop the again part.

You and me both. For 23 years, I designed and produced the Automotion catalog, and even though I then designed the web site they had before selling out, I always preferred dealing with print. I always find it hard to locate the stuff I want for Porsches from the larger retailers online. Searches never seem to have the correct key words coded in.

I am visual also I want pics so I can tell if it is the part I need and many of the Pelican stuff on the web either shows no pic at all or not the correct pic. Plus catalogs remind me of the Sears Wish Book that I used to get in serious beat down fights with my brother over when I was a kid. I actually think I still have brain damage from a certain hard plastic wiffle ball bat stuffed with news papers and tapped with duct tape from a fight over a wish book. Ouch that hurt just thinking about it.

Does PP still have their catalog on CD?
I know it is still not hardcopy and I understand not wanting to use the computer at home (mine is lucky if it gets fired up once a week).

You could use a laptop with the CD in the bathroom.

I'd rather have Pelican support the tech forums than a print catalog.

Me too! I just think of a $100.+ order as cheap dues to the club.

I used to have difficulty with the on-line catalog, but no more. It's pretty easy to find what I need. If I can't find it, I just call. Nine times out of ten, Pelican has what I need.

I get two or three big glossy catalogs in the mail every day. It's rare that I even open one. The Cabela's catalog is amazing. I think they send me 4 catalogs/year plus the huge master catalog. That must cost a fortune to print and ship.

Why are you looking at "tools" in the bathroom?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I get so much junk mail and am so busy at home that much stuff goes right out for recycling before I even open it (Harbon Freight for instance).

I'd rather keep costs down, but I do use the Performance Catalog to shop from and buy elsewhere

I am gradually making the transition to working paperless. It takes some effort at times, but I usually prefer something once I get it set up digitally.

My calendar, for instance, used to be hanging on the wall. Not any more.

TechnoViking! Love your videos, man. Techno Viking With Captions*Video

Yes, my first transition was from watch to cellphone, then from landline to cellphone, then from calendar to smartphone; and now, I am trying to separate from my smartphone for several hours a week just to prove I can.

But I'm old skool enough to want to flip pages instead of scan PDFs.
