E Jag Talk me down...
I saw this car at the Monterey Historics and it is now on Ebay and is a feature on Bring a Trailer. Other than making me smile when I walked in the garage I can't think of a single reason I need this car..... but.....
Oh, and I like the color (it is taking a lot of heat on Bring a Trailer over the color). ![]() ![]() ![]() Carrera-Ready: 1966 Jaguar XKE Coupe « BaT – The best vintage and classic cars for sale online |

Read Peter Egan's columns on the restoration and driving of his E-type. As he said, the engine actually does go "varoom".
Truly a thing of beauty and, in the words of Henry Manney, "The greatest crumpet collector known to man." I like the color too. Oh sorry! Was I supposed to be talking you out of this? Fat chance around here my friend. Les

Very cool. If it's on BaT, though, the "cat is out of the bag" (pun intended!) and you'll end up paying top dollar for it.
I had a car that landed on BaT a while ago. It ended up selling for 2X my high estimate. |

Beautiful. Buy it. Drive it like a banshee 'til that 4.2 blows up, then put a fuel injected small block Ford engine in it so it's compatible with the color scheme.

You won't get any "talk you out of it " support from me either, just send a pic of the grin after you drive it the first time. |

two words
Lucas Electrical seriously though, WTF are you thinking coming around here looking for someone to dissuade you from buying that badass, dead f'in' sexy coupe. That straight six is one of the sweetest mills ever screwed together. Dad had a '67 roadster and '72 V-12 roadster. The six was a better overall car according to Dad. Mr Morrison, I can attest that your car will go about 70 mph in first gear. |

I had that 4.2 straight six in a XJ-6. It never failed to let me down. I had a lot of words for it but sweet wasn't one of them. But the E-type is such a beautiful car, I would love to have one with either engine. That blue one is lovely!

Biggest mistake ever was selling my '62 roadster. Started out as a $500 "barn-find" by a friend. I paid $3,000 and finished it when he got divorced in the early '80's:

I saw that car too - it was super cool. Not perfect, but verrrry nice overall. Asking $85K IIRC...

How can you pass.. what an incredible car! Those sexy lines with a twist of modern/vintage racing.. Very nicely executed in my opinion.

OK, Lovely car and all that.
Can I politely ask?... Have you ever driven one? No power steering! You may think that's OK going by what a 911 is like to drive but this thing will turn you into a body builder. Try reverse parking one before you decide to buy. ![]() Gearboxes are notoriously notchy and ancient in feel. Makes a 915 feel positively modern. Although a properly rebuilt one is quite good. The problem is they're rarely properly rebuilt unless owned by a fanatic. Really stay away... Run to the hills. I know how you feel every emotional thing in you wants this car but logically it makes no sense. Now if I had a terminal disease then I probably would buy one. ![]()

The first time I saw an E-type coupe was my undoing... I fell in love with cars on that day and have never changed. They may not be a "good" car for most people but they are a "great" car for certain people.
That particular one is so sexy it gives ME wood! angela

There are enough aftermarket suppliers that you can get almost all the parts. Moss motors in Goleta, CA is one. Stay away from the auction houses and do a private party sale, you'll save a lot.
