Traffic school or Lawyer?

I got TAXED for going 85 mph on the 101.

Yes I was driving fast, no I wasn't weaving in and out of traffic.

Any recomendations on a GOOD lawyer to fight it or suck it up and pay the state that I live in, but do not like how they spend my $$$

If'n you can afford it, lawyer up. Otherwise traffic school.

And maybe consider a good PR person to handle all the righteous indignation thats gonna get flung your way by the all the Dudley Do-rights on this board.

My question is where you going with the flow of traffic? Even if you were you were still speeding quite a lot and going with the flow of traffic is not a license to break the law.

It is tough driving on CA highways these days - you can't trust the public to obey the speed laws and you can't trust the CHP to enforce the law fairly. IF the law is not enforced fairly - is it a reasonable law to enforce?

Seriously?

Cops are everywhere and writing people up more than I've ever seen. I suppose that means the courts are way too jammed these days. I'd research all the recent threads on tickets and use the best scenario that fits your situation.

I have no tickets in years. I'd go to traffic school and pay the money.

The whole thing is a money making SCAM! Why are the speed limits in the US so slow???

I recently got nailed for 32 mph over the limit. I just hired a traffic lawyer. She told me she can guarantee that I will not lose my license, but can't guarantee that I will beat the ticket. Basically I'm going to get stuck with a ***** load of fines. Once again...SCAM. I hate NY state.

That's gonna hurt.

I guess if I really wanted a "GOOD" lawyer, I'd go down to the courthouse to the traffic court, look for the lawyer in the silk suit with the client in the silk suit and follow the proceedings. If it goes well, you know what to do.

Why speed?

You don't save hardly any time unless you are driving hundreds of miles.

Do a track day and enjoy driving hard for a only a fraction of the cost.

It's not worth it.

California will send you a notice.
You can pay the ticket and sign up for traffic school by mail.
Then you can do traffic school on the net.
A few hundred dollars and a couple of hours and you're done.
Then you move on.

I was driving safely.

Yes, I was driving 300 miles that day.

Yes, I was driving a car in good conditions.

No, I hadn't any beer/wine, pot.

yes, my mind wanders at 65 mph. I start organizing my wallet, cleaning the dust off of the dash board etc.

And I will make adjustments on my taxes spent.

I earned a parking ticket at 9:30 PM in Huntington beach for an expired meter. I haven't been back to Huntington Beach in 18 months. It will be a L O N G time before I spend anything in HB

I'll give you 10 to 1 odds that the officer that wrote the ticket did more than 65 on the way home from his shift that night., the same as the judge that will hear the case.

When the majority of the people that drive the freeway do not follow the law is it a just law?

I don't want to go into all that.

Drive fast on the track and like a slug on the road.

All will be fine...

You are not going to win not matter if you were innocent. Just pay whatever is cheaper- traffic school or lawyer. I bet it will be traffic school. If it has been at least 18 months, then you do not get points, right? Online school is not that bad. You don't have to spend the hours reading which is how the course works out to 8 hours or whatever. You just scroll through and answer the questions.

Yes,

I wish that it would be worth doing. there's a few questions that I would like answered, like who has the right a way when there's a carpool lane on a onramp and there's a car that has been stopped for a metered red light.

( I give the car that's in the carpool lane the right away. It's MOVING!)

I just really do not feel that 65 is a just law.
