Anyone remember Star Blazers cartoon?
Anyone? Used to love that show when I was a kid....
Here's an odd little story I just read. Seems the producer has died... strangely... Yoshinobu Nishizaki, the 75-year-old producer of the Space Battleship Yamato animated series, marketed in the United States as Star Blazers, has died. The producer, whose real name was Hirofumi Nishizaki, reportedly fell from the steamship Yamato, which was anchored off the coast of Tokyo's Chichijima Island before its trial voyage. He was wearing a wetsuit, and police believe he was attempting to get off the 485-ton vessel to swim. Nishizaki will be missed. [Mainichi Daily] ![]()

I lived in Japan in the late 70s and again in the early 80s. I used to love that show never understood what they were saying, but that didn't matter. Wierd way to die for the guy.

Loved it. The theme song still blows through my brain with some regularity.

Yep. It was kinda funny that in the first few episodes, the "enemy" wasn't blue, and they typed in Japanese

I recall the that the battleship was called the Argo & the chief nemisis was a guy called Deslock. I also remember the hole in the bow for the wave motion gun (main armament) being much larger. Maybe I'm going senile.

You tube looks like it has low-res version of show in 6-10 minutes cuts of the episodes. I watch 1-10 yesterday. Boy it moves slow...
And yep, at episode 11, the Gammalons now are all blue. Also, the Gammalons are not giants in the first season. I think Minmay (or however she spelled her name) is second season.
