My father died tonight

I'm not really sure why Im posting this here. I just dont know what to feel.

My brother called me and said that he had a heart attack and found him on the floor in his house. He was only 56, good health, looked much younger.

Now I gotta fly home. Not sure how to make all that work either.

I remember that "not knowing how to feel" feeling all too well and I can not tell you how you should feel.

Condolences and prayers for you and your family.

Sorry to hear about this, NC... there is never a good time to hear news like that. Hold your other family members close and take it in small bits... just keep doing the next five minutes the best way you know how.

Whew that is a tough call to get , bro. I'm sure that you posted here to tap the knowledge and life experience here.
My Dad passed about 20 years ago. and I still don't know quite what to share with you.
Perhaps you will find some comfort in being with your family.

Try to focus on some of the positive memories and good times you got to have with him. look for opportunities to help others in the family.

So sorry for your loss, hang in there.

Sending strength your way.

I know how you feel. I lost my dad 14 years ago and I still think of him often.

Take care. Go home and be with your family.

We all were told since we were kids to be a man, so of course you don't know how to feel. It's a shock, and surreal right now, but we are all very sorry for your loss.

However you feel about it is alright. Eventually it will get sorted out. If things start to get a little numb, talk about it. We aren't women, and feelings aren't always natural to us.

It still sucks though.

I am sorry to hear this. I lost my mom a few years ago and since my relationship with my dad has suffered.

The only thing that will help is time.

Condolences to you and your family.

Sorry for your loss.

My Dad passed about 9 years ago. Remember the good times and don't dwell on the bad(if any).

Very sorry for your loss!

Sometimes a pain is too deep to be felt all at once. A defense mechanism if you will. Give yourself time and do not be too harsh upon yourself.

So sorry, NC. You are in shock right now because it was so unexpected. There is no right or wrong way to feel. Take one second, one minute, one hour at a time. My thoughts are with you and your family.
