Need help - can't open zip files with Windows 7

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 64bit.

Everymonth, I get an Excel spreadsheet sent to me from PCA that has our local club's membership roster. The file is in a zip folder.

I've never had trouble opening these befor but my new computer will not open them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do or download to make these files open. I really need this roster report.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks......Vern

Hm, it should just do it. Are you saving the file you your docs or the desktop before trying to open it?

Thanks to Rob & Aurel.

I've never had to save the file before; I just clicked on the folder and it opened.

I took your advice and saved the folder and then clicked & it opened. I'm not sure why it works differently in my old xp computer but at least I can get to the file.

I also downloaded the 7-zip program and we'll see if that works.

Thanks for the help................Vern

I think you have to upgrade your version. I had the same problem when I got a new computer with Windows 7.

Notice the "Now including Window 7 support."...

Did you receive the file via Outlook 2010?

Yeah, it's probably Outlook or your mail program preventing you from launcing explorer and opening the archive. When it's on the disk, it just luanches the compressed folder reader.

You definately shouln't need any additional software, I open zips all the time with a stock install. Might just be a slightly different process with the mix of programs you have since you were on XP.
