Our 2 dogs got out over the summer. The Rottweiler was found 15 miles away by a complete stranger. She was very nice called us and told us where to come and get him. Our poodle was found by a guy that lives 5 houses away. We have known him the entire time we have been here, 12 years. He wanted 200 bucks to get the dog back, he said his kids really liked the dog and was going to keep him. Too make a long story short I called a good friend thats a Clay county sheriff 3 cop cars in the driveway and 5 very pissed off dog loving cops at your door kinda changed his toon.

I have a neighbor with a couple of nice chocolate labs. They got out once.
And then again. And again. And again. And again...

The Electric Fence worked for our lab. Basically it's a stun collar and a wire you put around the perimeter of the yard.
I think it works best when visual barriers are used at first, and the dog is walked on a long leash around the yard. Once the training is there after a few weeks/month it's no longer needed. |

well, the dog is neutered...
Anyone know if the license plate search services (like undercoverdetective.com) actually work? I think I have the right plate number. |

Reread some of the 'spoon' threads & self-defense threads & ask yourself if you really, really want to confront him without some 'official' help.

Well, i waited around at the ex's house for a couple of hours today and this guy never called. At this point I've grown tired of the game. I told her to just call the cops and then let it go. If there is one thing I've learned over the past few years (mostly in dealing with civilian contractors for DoD projects), there is a lot of evil in the world and justice rarely prevails.

Best way to handle these things is to get the police involved and set the guy up, with the PD assisting. You set-up some kind of confrontation or ransom deal, (if that's what they want), with the cops hiding around the corner. They love to catch thieves. And that's what we're dealing with here.

I've also found that even busy big city PDs will be very interested when you already have the detective work done for them, ie. you can lead them right to the ass hole.

I'm with Rika. They would never find his body. The thief, not the dog.

Dogs that are well cared for, and paid the attention they deserve, generally don't leave the back yard, or your side. The dog might be better off.

I don't think that is necessarily the case Mr Davis, and most certainly that is not a constructive comment.
