Hot and inexperienced or experienced but not so hot?

Talking about phlebotomists, of course. I gave blood this afternoon and the phlebotomist was a new gal. Very, very attractive but obviously new to the job. She took two or three times as long as is typical, which gave me time to evaluate the pros and cons of the situation (and I really didn't mind the delay). There are many variables, but I think I prefer hot and inexperienced when it comes to a hands-on situation like giving blood. The benefit outweighs the risk of having a needle jabbed through an artery

I have been a blood donor for many years. I have only donated five gallons. I have been stuck by the hot & inexperienced and the old bag that knows everything. On rare occasions I get a cute & experienced blood sucker.

My final preference is to have the hot & inexperienced one bleed someone else but stay in view. I will take the old bag that wrote the book to bleed me.

As an RT my wife has to draw a fair amount of blood. She says some arms are a lot easier to draw from than others. And sometimes there's a bit of luck involved getting a stick the first time. I wouldn't want someone sticking me who didn't have a few hundred under their belt.

If you got ropes for veins, then give me the tight little unit. If you are a hard draw then give me large marge with the experience.

Experienced but not so hot for me...

I don't like pain even when inflicted by a "Hot" lady.

Only once has someone tried 3 times to hit the vein. From that point on no one will ever get past the first "try" in my lifetime. I don't give a pint what they look like.

After being exposed to Malaria I no longer get approached about giving blood but I still do get the old jab for check-ups frequently. I found early-on it was the luck of the draw as to whether you would be butchered or it would be painless. Doing a blood draw is probably more of an art form than a science.

I've been giving blood for years. I'll take the granny with experience, thanks.

I made the mistake of telling the last trainee that everyone says "Easy target," when they see my veins. Of course she went right through the vein and out the other side. They asked me if I wanted to try the other arm. I said, "Sure." Despite her supervisor's and my urging the trainee refused, looking like she was going to cry. The boss had no trouble with the other arm.

Clear through to the other side, yes I had that happen to me also. I decided to let the trainee give it a go. Went about it like he was gutting a fish, my arm was a deep purple from elbow to wrist for about a week. I'll take the experienced one please.

I don't care what they look like, I want the one that knows their business. I am about the easiest IV stick there is. My wife is pretty hot and she has always been the designated tough stick IV starter wherever she worked.

I used to give blood all the time. The local blood source has such f'ed up policies that I don't give blood at all. Probalby 6 or 7 gallons before I moved back here.

Does leave a cool bruise, doesn't it?

Same here. Between Desert Storm and being based in Germany when the "mad cow" episode hit, they will not let me donate anymore.

Would rather have the older vamp who knows what she is doing...

Is the "hotness" of sufficent quality to outweigh the "inexperience"?
It's a balancing act.

No, you want experienced every time, especially if you don't have tree roots for veins. Paid for college by drawing blood, but still remember the first stick....hit a tendon and had to peal the guy off the ceiling; but I did get a lot better. Pay back came many years later when I was donating blood. The team was a reserve team out of Ft Bliss, the gal drawing was missing the veins (I have decent veins too!), couldn't get good flow, was just a mess. I finally asked, "what do you do for a living when not doing reserve time," trying to calm her down, "oh" she said, "I fix TVs"! Heavy sigh....

I did apheresis for many years. Back in the stone ages when they used BOTH arms. It took over an hour and scratching your nose was impossible. You wanted to be SURE to pee before your were hooked up.
