any prob changing sparkplugs on a hot car?

risk of stripping threads? Infinity G20. earlier model. i assume alum heads.

should i used anti-seize on them? i didnt on my tacoma.

friend is driving over tomorrow AM for help. leaky valve cover, and plug change..also the supply hose for the power steering. low pressure, hose clamped and easy. except when i remove the hose..i assume the fluid will dump.

should i let the car cool down first?

Most chop shops I deal with don't have anywhere near that attention to detail. They just sell 'em as-is, no warranty. I'm glad to see someone is bringing a bit of integrity to the game.

That car had the same motor, SR20DE, as my SE-R. I think I just backed them out, easy peasy. And that was after years of New England salted winters. I didn't do it on a hot motor, though.

I never changed the plugs while the motor was still hot, but once the O2 sensor came loose from the exhaust header of my SE-R. I remember pulling into the Malibu Country Mart parking lot to try to screw it back it. While I was melting my fingertips off, I looked up and saw Gabrielle Reece watching what I was doing. Such hotness.

I don't think there will be any big issue on that car, It will probably have cooled off for 30 minutes or so, by the time you get the hood open, and the plastic covers off, and coils,. or plug wires out. In my biz, we dont always have the luxury of waiting untill the thing cools off, customer tapping their feet in the background. If is is a vechile that is known for spark plug thread issues ( ford trucks) I try to let them cool down a good while If it is an old iron head american motor, hell have at it, as long as your fingers can stand the heat. A little touch of anti seize never hurts.

I don't want to be the bearer of alternative news BUTTTTTTTT you risk stripping the head when you go to torque them down. You should address other issues and replace the plugs with the engine warm at most. Especially since it is a friends car you don't want to have to helicoil the heads because of a mistake that makes you look like its all your fault.
