I got greedy and wanted to optimize the gearing 3/4/5 for two local road courses. At these tracks 5th at 140mph is all I need. If the 4:10 at Buttonwillow or Chuckwalla is not the hot ticket I will be looking at other gears. Regardless of the r/p ratio the spacing on the C5 Z06 6 speed gear stack is a compromise of performance and mpg. r/p change is labor intensive on these Vette. :( |
Glad to see you're enjoying the car!!!

made a couple changes,
got a 3.73 gear and set of Hardbar front disc brakes. Left foot brake in the Vette feels more like the 911 now. Squeaky brakes are racin' brakes. ;) The white Ferrari early apex-ed and tracked out/off enuf to scare me. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ixENUntyMRk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Very smooth driving, Ted..... you make it look easy.
Clearly, there were a few drivers out there that could have used some instruction. That Ferrari couldn't find the line if it were painted on the track. And you obviously need moar wing :D |
thanks Eric. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif
maybe replace the stock rubber bushings down the road... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330727271.jpg |
I have to say, of all of the Vettes since 1984, the C5 was the one that I thought was the best looking. I think the C5 is much better looking than the C6. You just can't argue with the performance of the C6. They just keep getting better and better.

C5 Z06 makes everyone look like a great driver. ;)
I'd go for a black C6z. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330739021.jpg |
So I had a personal best in the old Vette, 1.58.9.
Starts at about 6.16, Lap 3 on the video. Nice grid with a slightly faster cup car to chase. The new front AP racing brakes helped too. Why at 3.15 does the fast guy in the black GTR time a double pass to happen in the middle of a corner? :( http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1332864805.jpg<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MsWFda7bxGo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This is my PBTS, personal best tank slapper at 7.50 in the video (no nannies). ;) GTR runs like stink and seems the nannies and AWD help keep them off the beach. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AVM8-WhXheY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I had the opportunity to drive a C6 Z06 yesterday, one of my wife's friends received it from her husband as she wanted a car to autocross (overkill). Easily the most savagely accelerating car that I've ever driven, I only drove it on city streets and was cognizant that it would very quickly send me to jail. There's just so much power, you'd never be able to exploit it unless you were on a track. Lots of fun though.....

It ran a 1.54 or after the shovel under aka one filthy whore. :( The 427 pulls 3rd gear around the entire track... I see where I can gain a second or two...eliminate shifting... ;) My old C5 needed 8 shifts per lap between 3rd and 4th, 4 up and 4 down. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Av-zI6Kf-Cw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
sold today!
my last vette video. :( C5 prices holding value.
