thanks,
Mike

cut foam inserts to make the fog lights flush to the bumpers. smooth that girl out.
Painters tape the hood to fender seams. If he has big balls narrow the tires from 245 witdh dow to 225 in the front and 285's down to 245 in the rear

the cd of the car stock is .28

He might want to try getting the car as low as he can as well.

:) Fun day at Chuckwalla Valley raceway just east of Palm Springs Ca.
It was warm near 100 but car ran great.
Fun car, very easy to drive fast.
They have been called hero cars.
Because they make the drivers look like hero's. ;)

Will do! but Big and SOW not at the top of my list anymore.
Prefer Chuckwalla, Buttonwillow and Spring Mtn.
Best of luck with the ZLA training program! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif
Hope you get more radar time than flight data. :)

Why they made a fiber glass Vette weigh 800lbs more than a 911 I dunno.

The ZO6 weighs LESS than a new carrera.
It's also smaller in almost every other dimension too, including length and height.
The vettes got better, the carreras got ...... fat.

Thanks, if you can drive an old 911 fast you can drive a C5 or C6 well too.

tires were Kumho R rated V710s, 265x17 front and 315x18 rear.
3200lbs/470rwhp.

The S2000 cars appeared to handle well and looked like fun to drive, lots of RPM just less torque.

lin7310948 06-08-2011 10:34 AM

regarding the modified 78 930...the modified ls7 engine dynoed at over 700 chp and 600 ft ibd torque. rev limit is set at 7200 rpm. the 930 as sitting might be a tad less than 2400 pounds.

respect to your project, I look forward to seeing you hook it up.
are you going to track it?
fast is 62mph in 60mph turn.
interesting combo...
80s 930 suspension new was adaquate with a third of the power.
Turbo brakes will be fine with the right pads.
no abs or nannys...
Still the wieght/power behind the rear axle requires more driver skill.
ymmv something with bigger tires should corner faster.
always something hotter...a V8 for my 911? maybe but it keeps a pulse ;) w/only 300rwhp. :)

Ted, re: your vid in post #103, what is making the noise that sounds like a coupla marbles in a coffee mug? Is it some kind of noise/interference with the camera's mic?

Great run. Heroes, indeed.

Not sure I'll look into it, heard a similar clicking noise on other Go Pro videos on line too.
Also interested in suggestions for Go Pro editing software for W7.

Ran the Mohave mile Saturday..Bikes and Gt40s were 200 to 220mph…

I just replaced my 3.42 for 4.10 with hopes I might like it at Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla.
But at the mile...I hit 5th at the quarter mile and 6th at the half mile.
Thankfully the motor and tune were agreeable to my half mile of 6th gear flogging.
159 was my best, pretty sure with a 3.42 it would gain a bunch leaving it in 5th till the end.
All the C6 Z06s with stock gearing were running around 170.
But it felt plenty fast on the 3 hour drive home to San Diego.
At least i went fast enuf to open my mirrors at 150.
Hope to see a few of you at Rennsport this weekend!
Cheers, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

Why not do a 3.55 or 3.73 gear? I went to a 3.73 and found it a great compliment to the 6 speed.
