"tall Bob" must be pretty flexible. Just to get in a NASCAR machine takes some doing... Damn, that looks like fun. The vintage NASCAR guys were at Portland for one of the Historic races. They were racking up some very impressive lap times.

So, how are you liking it???? Updates..

We picked this up a few years ago, lots of it ended up in my former partners convertible Vette, we had a plan for this, but his wife's stroke cut his activity

Hey dude,
I'm only on my 3rd tank.
Kirkey seat and Momo wheel, 5 point belts, 710s and I'll be able push it.
A local Touring 1 Z06 driver shared his carbotec brake bias/pad choices for local tracks.
Need to modify my trailer winch and front tie downs for the Vette.
Other than pace a few Lotus thru the canyon no real test.
I can't wait to DE it.
I'll share video here when I do.
ZR1 at the local dyno day.
Some serious power but ayk you can run great lap times with 400hp.

I have a friend with a 944 that had an LS1 which he blew up at Willow Springs, he bought an LS6 long block for $3,200 factory new from Chevy with a 12K factory warranty. Unbelievable, when I rebuilt my old DB4, I must have spent $5K on parts and machining with me doing the wrenching, and I thought I got off cheap.

porsche4life 12-19-2010 07:14 PM

In many ways the LS swaps make sense. Cost is one of them. I just want to know how they work on the damn motor in the car, talk about shoe horned in...

That isn't a street Corvette.

Nonetheless, this race Corvette is in a different race class than the proper eligible Porsche.

If you didn't know this, you need to get a racing license.

Have not owned a Vette in many years but I think they are some of the best buys on the market today.

Chevrolet : Corvette - eBay (item 150550225969 end time Jan-24-11 06:47:04 PST)

One owner local car under 40K miles for 19K obo, thats a lot of car for the buck.

Another vid, same car.
Not sure why you think it is a race car?
These guys drive them to the track.
This is just a DE video.

Here is the car, 500hp street Vette.
More info might help you see what the camera car is.
With a modified motor, dry sump and relocated battery is about all.
(see graph and video).
Really pulls from 70 to 160 but no place for that on the street. ;)

fwiw PCA club racing license btdt.
The blue car in tow is a 3 year old stock C6 Z06, 70k miles on street tires.
I like the speedo shot.

too bad you can't chase them for fun on your work bike. :D
pm next time you go to the track, I'm getting my stuff ready. :)
let's get back out there before your retired.

You drove the wheels off your 911 when Rupart's Vette clobbered you.
ps he's back in Canada last i heard.

slakjaw 01-18-2011 07:09 PM

cool dude. Just don't take it to any burnout contests and it will be fine.

I wanna know how you can claim anything other than the official time? I mean the timing equipment has to be way more accurate than the cars speedo, especially at that speed.

Ted, There's talk amongst the C6 crowd that tucking the rearview mirrors in is worth a couple of MPH.

I think that if this guy had blocked off the Z-06 vents on the sides and taped over some of the scoops on the front he might have done better.

Good points Jim... I'll be sure to do the same.
Would of been nice with your ideas, bet he might have got to 200 officailly. :)
I think more vettes will have there mirrors retracted this April. ;)
thanks,
Mike

i am in the process of installing a modified ls7 engine in my 78 930. the engine is being built by Mast Motorsports and should dyno a bit above 700 CHP. it will be a drive by wire. the car weighs approximately 2400 pounds and should be very fast!

with a 4spd turbo trans would be awesome in that light a car.

Why they made a fiber glass Vette weigh 800lbs more than a 911 I dunno.
