These things are terrible for your health, mental and physical. I work in the service industry and a lot of folks drink this stuff like fish drink water. Drink it every day for a couple of weeks and tell me if you still feel like it's giving you that 'pep in your step'- you'll feel more nervous than anything and strung out like you've been binging on something much harder. There's alot of weird cafiene and caffeine like substances in there. This from someone who's drank ten cups of Joe every morning for twenty years!

Way back in the day, when RB was relatively new on the scen and I was a stupid kid, I drank a dozen in about 2 hours time. I vomited for the next hour and spent the night laying in bed praying for sleep or death.
Not as long ago, studying for finals, I drank a handful of the large size rockstar energy drink. Went into kidney failure and had to be rushed to the hospital. Docs there said that energy drinks are bad juju. Said you can pretty much chug soda or coffee and you're better off than with a couple of energy drinks, from a healthy conscious standpoint. |

I tried one of those drinks once, I think it was a Monster. I had that same feeling of wanting it to be over like I did back in the day if I ate too many mushrooms. Not the same high, but that desire to be back to normal.
(Mushrooms = a long, long time ago, in a previous life!)

When I was in vending we sold the heck out of this as well as the other brands that followed. People would pay $3 a can back then and buy several during the work day.
Most health professionals will tell you that it's not healthy stuff.

Used to drink it a lot, maybe ten per day, starting in the morning.
Now, not so much anymore. It is good if you need a short boost. But it's not healthy and no substitute for sleep.

I have never heard so many old wives tales in one page!
Isn't too much of just about anything (except water) not good for you? Doesn't it seem like the FDA would ban energey drinks if people were really going to the hospital because of too many of them i.e. Like what is happening with Four Lokos!

Anything in excess is bad for the kidneys....water intoxication......
As to the FDA, they react to news stories and go after companies with short pockets. Red Bull is a media whore and has tons of bucks to defend themselves. PLUS, people add booze to their product while 4 Loco has it in it already....Alcohol is Federally regulated. Energy drinks don't fall under that umbrella.

I've never tasted it or any of that over-hyped energy crap.
But if I really wanted to I could brew a really strong pot of coffee, mix in a pound of sugar, and throw some caffeine tablets in it. |
