I Had a Dream and its Freaking Me Out.

I lost my Godmother about 6 months ago, she was like a second Mom to me because I spent a lot of time over her house when I was a young boy (her son and I are about the same age).
Anyways, the other night she came to me in a dream... I was walking out the front door and there she stood, I said, "Hi, how are you?" She replied, "Fine..." then we started walking down the side walk arm in arm. We didn't get very far and then all of a sudden she was gone. (When we were walking I had a very, very "Calm" feeling.)

Was she leading me toward the bright light?? Or did she just stop by to say hello?

So now I have this feeling of impending doom. Healthwise, I'm doing pretty well, I see a doctor regularly.... but still... this dream is freaking me out.

What are your thoughts?
Any dream analysis here??

Are you having trouble making a big decision right now about some aspect of your life?

I think she was just saying hi.

The mind has a way of comforting, if we let it.

You are missing her love, comfort and security and you may not be getting those from the people whom you are surrounded with.

She came to give you a hug and ease your mind.

She is fine, as she said...how are you? You don't have to answer here, just some things to ponder.

better her than the other guy..
he don't care..
he just comes and you have no say so..
she's just checking on you..
as you perhaps have been thinking of the 'old days'

Don't know if you are religious or not, but I have a similar story that has a religious bent to it. When my dad died our minister told us to be ready to see him come back from time to time, especially soon after his death and not to be startled, that it was common, and he was just coming back to see us and say hello and comfort us. Sure enough, a few times my mother, sisters and I could have sworn we heard his voice. But mostly he came back to us in dreams. They were the kind of dreams that are so real that they take you a few minutes to realize you've woken up.

Over the years he's come to me in several dreams. None are the same but any dream with him in them is so realistic that it's hard to explain. He's been gone for more than ten years, so my waking memory of what he looked and sounded like are a bit fuzzy. We were very close, worked together on our farm, and he was very distinctive, so the fading memory feels strange, especially considering what a larger than life figure he was for so many years. But when I see him in a dream, it is like being next to him again. The unique sound of his voice, the calluses on his hands, his flat top haircut, the smell and feel of his chore clothes, it's all like I am with him in the room again.

Sometimes we talk, but it is always short and I see him only for a minute. The dreams come out of nowhere and don't seem related to anything I do or think. For what it's worth, I do think the minister is right and that our loved ones do come back to visit us from time to time and that it is meant to be a comfort to us.

I wouldn't take your Godmother's appearance to be a harbinger of doom. I would treasure the memory and look forward to the next time she visits.

ok, so after reading these few replies, I'm starting to feel better. Thank you.
You know, it's not death that bothers me, it wondering how my loved ones will cope if I were to leave suddenly.

Thanks again.

They sit around crying a lot and miss you terribly Then they pick theselves up and go on with their lives, never forgetting but finding that the passage of time makes the loss more bearable.

MRM, I have those dreams too. My ex appears a lot in other dreams as well. We don't talk in real life and haven't been married for 30 years. The funny thing about both, or all 3 of us if you will, is that there doesn't seem to be much of an emphasis on age. Everyone is just in limbo age wise.

My best friend in life, for 62 years, passed suddenly about two years ago. He comes to me in dreams pretty often and just says he'll come back from time to time and that he still has work to do where he was sent. It's spooky but re-assuring at same time. Thankfully, he so far has not told me that he's come to bring me with him... I still know his wife and kids (adult) but certainly would not tell them I have these dreams.

My Dad came only once after he passed and one other good friend too...twice for him.

I think you are fortunate to have your God Mother to come to you as she did. Do not fear it. I hope you have more dreams like that...she obviously loves you.

It is a memory dream.

You had a kind and gentle relationship with her and you are recalling the feelings between the two of you, and the affect she had on you. Really a very positive dream. Over the years you will revisit the relationship probably many times.

Very common. and I suppose it is a way for you to be revisited at least by their memory.

Rereading you initial post...you were walking and didn't get very far before she was gone and you felt a calmness... you are now begining to feel ok with the fact that she is gone, because you realize that U loved her and that love will always remain for her.

It was just a dream. You mind was relaxing. Dreams are nothing but your brain regenerating.
