Bought 10 iPads Last Night

Yup, marketing program at work.
Spent quite some time negotiating for a discount or incentive and after contacting the Business Manager who put me on a National Corporate plan I received a ....................................2% discount. That's $10 off each $499 iPad.

How much money are these guys making?

I'm not surprised, I work in a Radioshack and we make like $5 on a $229 iPod touch....

I picked up a Nook Color at B&N last week and rooted it already. Runs everything I need it to just fine (Android).

$270 including tax.

Then Apple is royally raping RS. A ~2.5% ROI is absurd and even Apple couldn't get away with those numbers.
I've got family in store-level management for Apple and he assures me that their profit margins are enviable.

OP: I know someone that placed a $60k order with Apple, for his business, and didn't get much better of a discount.

And now you know why we don't push apple stuff hard. We always try to sell some accessories with an iPod, gotta make money somewhere. To make matters worse they won't let us sell the iPhone, and we are an authorizes ATT retailer. Guess I will be going HTC EVO in February.

They don't give discounts because they don't have to.

And they aren't stupid enough to give a significant discount to every person that walks in and buys 10, otherwise you'd see a lot of folks buying that way and then re-selling on eBay.

I have a B&W nook. Where did you find the info on rooting it and how much trouble was it?
