Viagra Commercial - SS Camaro
This commercial drives me crazy.
He's driving along and steam starts to come out of the radiator. A sign of SERIOUS over heating, or other cooling system problem. He pulls into the old time mechanic shop, and waves off the old guy who looks to me like he's done it all. He grabs a bottle of "Spring Water" from the cooler, opens the hood, pulls off the radiator cap (on a overheated engine!) and pours it in. The commercial claims that he is part of the generation that knows how to get things done. Slounds more like part of the generation of Arrogant Idiots.

Yea, I was laughing at the stupidity of that commercial as well. The sad thing is lots of people will think that is all it takes to fix a LEAKING cooling system.

Yeah, but you don't touch a hot radiator cap. You don't remove the radiator cap on a hot motor. And he is using water full of minerals. And if it is over heating, adding plain water isn't the answer.
But the kicker is the banner saying basically saying "We don't need help, we know what we're doing!". It is obvious, this guy doesn't know what he's doing.

I dunno - maybe the overheating and cold water is some sort of metaphor or something? Something subliminal to push more pills?

The key to this commercial is the realization that Camaro owners have matured beyond the mullet stage in life and can now attract normal women. Unfortunately, they are also now at an age where it requires a little help from Viagra. Re: car maintenance, they are still clueless.

my wife that knows very little about working on cars saw that & said "hey you can't pour cold water in a hot radiator like that, why didn't he burn the crap out of his hand opening it up?"
you have to wonder how ignorant the ad companies are

Now in 993 land ...

This is perfect metaphor for Viagra. Instead of fixing the cooling system by installing a new head gasket or thermostat, all one has to do is pour a bottle of cold spring water in the radiator and everything is cool: Instead of fixing the high blood pressure meds by losing weight and exercise, all one has to do is pop a little pill and up it goes.

It humors me working in the pharmacy that viagra, levitra, cialis, etc are the only drugs people tend to not complain about the price... And that stuff is pricey!

I'm just glad Viagra is no longer running those ads with the song in 'em. "Vivaaaaaaa.... " ugh... mute button dive time.

I passed a guy stalled on the freeway the other day with an overheated car. As I looked back in my rearview mirror I saw a 4' tall green gusher and the guy jumping out of the way. He must have seen the commercial

Granted, it`s a no-brainer never to remove a radiator cap from an overheated engine without protection; even worse, as it can kill the engine rather than just scald the idiot, to pour cold water into a hot radiator, but I have an entirely different take on this moronic commercial.
Now, unless my old eyes deceive me, entirely possible as I race through my eighth decade, that is NOT a radiator cap our automotively challenged friend is removing, but the OIL filler cap from the valve cover of a Chevy "stove bolt" six cylinder engine. I can`t be absolutely certain, as one can only see the engine for a fraction of a second, but I`d bet a buck or two on it. To add water to an engine`s oils supply in attempt to cool it down would be analogous to, and have essentially the same effect, as attempting to cure "E.D." by shoving a lighted firecracker up one`s.......well, you know. |

Not one of you noticed that it wasn't a 69 camaro by the end of the commercial.
