The 25 year foreclosure from hell.

The 25-Year 'Foreclosure From Hell' - WSJ.com

This woman has not paid her mortgage since 1984 and still has her house.

Banks don't care. They just shrug and jack the cost of borrowing for everyone else by assuming everyone is a greater risk to do something equally unethical.

People like this need to be dragged into a dark back alley somewhere and worked over with some black rubber hoses and socks full of quarters by her fellow citizens - who ultimately are the ones she's stealing from (it costs them and us all more because of BS like this).

She's not a hero, she's a thief, plain and simple.

Hey! Quit trying to make her out to be such a deadbeat- her last payment was Oct. 'of '85, not '84. That's ALMOST '86!

I don't know... on one hand you could say she's just trying to find a way not to pay. On the other hand... you KNOW the lender would use the same tactics against her or any one of us if they discovered some loophole that could be worked to their advantage. I assume the lender has given homeowners this same treatment. They can dish it out but they can't take it.

If her case had no merit she would have been evicted long ago. Looks like the banks are waiting for her to drop dead.

Why are the windows boarded up?

So this deadbeat woman (through her now-deceased husband) took out a $68K mortgage, on which she still owes $63,801. Plus $148K in interest.

She uses the excuse that as long as a mortgage/foreclosure is contested, she doesn't have to make payments. On one hand, I understand that reasoning; if you don't know who to pay because the mortgage has changed hands, who do you pay? But this slimeball of a woman doesn't seem the type to have been squirreling away the mortgage she otherwise would have paid, ready at moment's notice to produce it to whomever is determined to be the proper lienholder. Wonder if she's been paying the property taxes on that place?

Really, if there was any justice, any judge would look at this and say "no payments in 25 years, who cares what the law says, you're out of there tomorrow".

Only in Flori-DUH!

Okeechobee? Good lord, how can she live in a house? I've been there; I thought that there were nothing but trailers out there, since that is all I saw, along with the levy around the lake-

Anyway, Flori-DUH! is a RED STATE. This sort of thing is common in RED STATES, along with incest, apparently. Squeal like a pig, boy!

So, ahh... You choose to live there... why? Exactly?

Back on topic, you have to wonder if the bank has paid more than the value of the property trying to collect already...

This is really, really stupid. You don't pay, you get booted. Pretty simple.

Try that with your annual tax assessment and see how long it lasts.

Can't answer for Normy but I love the climate (was a bit too cold today). There is a world of stuff here to do (people come here from everywhere to vacation). Piles of good seafood to eat (and anything else you might want to eat). But all that being said there does seem to be more nut-jobs and crooks here than anywhere else in the US.

yet another house to have to deal with is not a high priority right now for the bank - the bank should have done that a few years ago; taken the money from selling to somebody else & run -- hence the advice to bankers: "c'mon, take the money and run"

they'll just grab it after she dies
