Its time to get one.

I'm leaning towards the speaker type. Something that could go between cars would be ideal.

I have my great great grandfathers ears and literally have to shave inside my ear canal every other day and I'm thinking that sticking an ear plug in would just be irritating after awhile.

RedBeard, does the Motorola H730 stick inside your ear or just sit along the outside.
Not inside, it rests against your ear hole..

Also, I'm not sure that model Jawbone use the higher bandwidth bluetooth standards. ...and then there's the problem of accidentally ending the call, when trying to push the device back into the ear. :-/
I also have a Plantronics, had a few, non have worked as well for me as the current Jawbone, and I have had better luck with this on my bike rides than I had with the Plantronics...

I cannot stand having something stuck in my ear. It causes pain after a little while
Mine came with interchangable rings, so I just tested until I found one that felt right.. I also like the fact that the Jawbone has caller ID, so I don't have to look at my phone, plus, when I get calls, it rings in my ear piece, so it doesn't disturb anyone else, I just walk away & take the call..

How does that work? Does a voice tell you who is calling?

BlueAnt thing you clip to your visor... I also can't stand having something stuck in my ear.

Amazon.com: BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black) Bulk Packaging: Electronics

My new Hyundai has blue tooth built in so no problemo.

And yes just as many people here in Cali holding the phone to their ear... or holding it in front of their face using speakerphone.

That's what I kinda tried to say earlier. Looks like we're outnumbered here...

I believe some of the nay-sayers on ear pieces aren't gainfully employed or don't have a job where they need to communicate. In the time I drive to and from work, I can start / finish business which allows me to shave about an hour off my work day. I have no trouble driving while talking. It isn't any different than having a passenger.

Anyway, the OP asked which bluetooth. I had a Motorola and it sucked bad - especially for the other side. It did not cancel background noise well at all. Now I have a Plantronics Voyager that works well. It costs under $30 at Costco including a 12V and 110V charger.

I don't use a cell in my 911. In the GMC Yukon truck I have an integrated Parrot system that works with my On Star/Bose stereo. I ditched On Star because of their crappy rates.
